I'm currently working on an Amiga 1081 monitor for TNMoC. This one was found in a non-working state with some missing parts. I've replaced the BUT11A PSU power transistor, and a 4.7Ohm 7W resistor. The power transistor was missing its insulating material and clamp, so I had to fit an insulating kit.

Very nostalgic working our way through our #Commodore128 collection - I had one after my Breadbin when I was growing up. I hardly ever did anything then other than use it in #C64 mode, and so far it's been much the same at #TNMOC. Any suggestions for things we can show people on them? (1/3)

Our Mac SE had been out of action for a while with a very dim screen. @retroworkshop.bsky.social braved an HV probe to show the EHT was Ok, tube had reached end of life. Handily we also had a very battery damaged donor machine - one tube swap later it's back in ready for #MARCHintosh 😊 #TNMOC

Ditto very lucky to still have my original #C64 #Commodore64. Couple of CIAs and key replacements (victims of Daley Thompson's Decathlon!) and it still works well. Original user manual too!

It lives! Promising start in getting a working Research Machines 380Z into our PC gallery. More work to do, but all looks good so far! Nostalgic as it was the first computer I encountered - we had two in my school when I was 12. @tnmoc.bsky.social #TNMOC

Royal Museums Greenwich isn't on here, so I thought I would hoist a flag for its excellent programme of events for LGBTQ+ History Month, including fab Queer History Night on 20 Feb. 🌈⚓🌊☠️ www.rmg.co.uk/whats-on/gre... #LGBTHM #LGBTQHM #LGBTplusHM25 #queer #queerhistory 🗃️

Very successful day moving our #BeBox drive onto ZuluSCSI at #TNMOC. Slightly scary doing the initial mirror as we do not have the original install media, but all worked perfectly. Now running on our in-house PCB version of ZuluSCSI with the drive image safely in the cloud. @tnmoc.bsky.social

This is how a plug was wired on a device I received. Zero strain relief and an over-rated fuse. I wonder if wiring UK plugs is a skill that is even taught anymore.

I feel moved to write about one of my technological heroes, possibly the most influential on my youth as an 8-bit hacker: a trans woman named Sophie Wilson. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie_...

Having lots of fun today working on our #Commodore64 collection here at #TNMOC. @tnmoc.bsky.social

Last week we posted about our 'Paddington' Acorn Archimedes...which we quickly realised wasn't the exact machine from the film🫢 Having cleared the marmalade from our circuits, we've now located what we believe to be the correct machine 🖥️ Loyal #TNMOC followers, have we redeemed ourselves? 😊

Been working on something unusual at the museum #TNMOC - a One-Laptop-Per-Child XO-1. Ours unfortunately has some screen bleed, but still works. Horribly slow to boot, but I guess it was made for a price point! #OLPC @tnmoc.bsky.social

If you're in Los Angeles, check out LACMA (LA County Museum of Art) showing off Andy Warhol artwork created on real Amiga 1000 hardware. (Part of the ThomaArt collection.) Awesome they are using real hardware! Thanks to my friend Jeff for sharing the photo with me.

Installed our working BBC Doomsday LaserDisc in our Personal Computing Gallery yesterday for visitors to try out. Very cool technology for its age!

Nice recent donation to the museum @tnmoc.bsky.social . A great condition Amstrad GX4000, packaged for the Spanish market. Predictably disappointing to play though!

Just arrived here, planning to share more about what we are doing at TNMOC 😊.
