___ Elijah was never afraid of false prophets or Jezebel. If God told you to go hide in a cave until it's okay to come back out, you would. Elijah was in terrible pain and everywhere he went people tried to kill him. He had nowhere safe to lay his head. Also, he was disabled so he couldn't work.
