me: could someone please explain to me what the fuck is going on also me: could everyone please stop trying to explain to me what the fuck is going on

If Harvard has acquiesced like Columbia, it would have been the end of the game.

Bring home Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

I’ve been upgraded to “hi baby” at my local deli that I go to probably 4x per week so I’ll be riding this high for the rest of the month, thank you everyone

took a few days off for my brain and one pretty alarming observation i have is just how easy it is to not hear about the bad stuff that is happening if you don't explicitly dip into specific information streams (not a new problem but feels orders of magnitude more siloed than even 2-3 years ago)

It will come to every house in America, and they will be shocked and angry when it does.

Woah the energy on here is feeling “bot-like” and not helpful

I would like everyone to do this.

I am very frightened that not “online” people will make Cuomo our next mayor…

The Cuomo polling highlights something I’ve noticed in humans (nothing new or exciting) … the pull of the “known” even if it’s horrifying is often the choice people want to make - the amount of effort, discomfort, and risk that is involved in the unknown is a barrier to us all…

Just got out of a meeting where I got some insight into how much Tisch James is doing to keep MAGA at bay in NY State. It would be nice if our mayor and governor were as combative as she. Elections matter. As we organize remember the folk fighting behind the scenes that need our support.

We have just been informed that four Emory students have had their visas revoked. Let me be so crystal clear, this is dictator behavior and we won’t just sit here and take it. University leaders—it is time to locate your spine and put it to use.

“No one, apparently, is willing to prevent a single man from destroying the world economy, wrecking financial markets, forcing this country and other countries into recession – if that’s what he feels like doing when he gets up tomorrow morning.” Anne Applebaum

Running on empty today but still running

LOL, we are so fucked.

How many IRS commissioners have to resign before I don’t have to send in my payment?

In nyc the weather feels like mid January. My goodness. Me this morning leaving the house.

It’s a month since the administration detained and disappeared a green card holder, a lawful permanent resident. We cannot allow this to be normalized or forgotten.

House Speaker Johnson is eyeing big cuts to Medicaid. Nearly 40% of the people in his district in Louisiana rely on it

“How can you joke at a time like this?” Because I need to laugh or I will die

Great thread

Congress is currently negotiating a budget resolution that would mandate severe Medicaid cuts over the next ten years. IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR HEALTHCARE, YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK. This is life under Republican rule. Contact your Senators. www.votervoice.net/APAAdvocacy/...

“First they fascinate the fools, then they muzzle the intelligent.”

I just opened my New York Times app to catch up on the millions of people protesting in the US. There was nothing. Zero. I’m not joking; have a look yourself. Can anyone update me? (and the NYT!)

I don't understand how any member of Congress can look at today and still believe they'd get some terrible backlash and lack of support from introducing an impeachment resolution, or even saying the word. Stop worrying about the nattering pundits who speak for nobody but themselves. Just do it.

Thats one protester for every 150 Americans. Incredible

Good.

To the world: We are fighting back. Our movement has been silenced by the media here—but we are not backing down. This is what our streets looked like across multiple cities. Tomorrow, there will be more of us! Raise a glass to freedom. —With love, Your American allies.

Man, the big huge protests in places like Boston, DC, NY, Chicago, and Minneapolis are awe-inspiring. But my heart is gonna explode looking at these crowds of people out in tiny Maine towns and super red Alabama towns. Places where 15% of the population is on the street corner with more coming!

Main takeaway from the big #handsOFF protest in Manhattan today: overwhelmingly older white people. Like in 2003, they are going to portray it as pierced tattooed young rabble but it was not that at all.

New York Fucking City. A full mile of people filled to the brim. Fascism is going to lose.
