When this book was first proposed as a biography of the naturalist John Knapp, I liked it. Over the months the book evolved and now it includes his journal too and I love it.

I had fun with👇 likening the decline of Kellaways to the town of Radiator Springs in the Pixar movie Cars.🚗 Both were on major routes & suffered when traffic diverted. In Kellaway's case when parliament forces tried to destroy the bridge in the 1640s. 🫢 www.louiserylandepton.co.uk/blog/kellawa...

Love this tiny depiction of St Anne teaching the Virgin Mary to read in Rendcomb, #Gloucestershire, I presume one of the Flemish panels incorporated into the nave windows by Baillie in the 1850s #StainedGlassSunday, always loved this evidence of women's education by women.

Story of a Murder by Hallie Rubenhold review: the real Cora Crippen The author of The Five, about the Ripper murders, turns her attention to another tragically misunderstood victim www.theguardian.com/books/2025/a... @hallierubenhold.bsky.social @doubledayuk.bsky.social

I’m at the last night of Much Ado with Tom Hiddleston in London 😱 The atmosphere is electric.

I have been working sporadically on 👇#MaudHeath and her incredible legacy for years. Then, just as the academic article is being prepared for publication I find an incredible new lead!!! 😖😭

Discover 17th century travel through the eyes of John Walker in our new release. Edited by Anthea Jones. www.hobnobpress.co.uk/books/p/john...

Sad today as I had to say goodbye to an old friend.

In this blog for @wiltshistory.bsky.social I reflect on John Aubrey & look forward to celebrating the publication of Volume XX in 2026 & Aubrey’s 400th Birthday 🎁 www.wiltshirehistory.org/news/the-leg...

I am really looking forward to this! @amalexathorn.bsky.social's work with the Beyond Notability project has taught all of us @vchlondon.bsky.social so much about our archives, the people within them, and the context of 'doing' history in the early 20th century. 🗃️

Got my ALCS statement and spotted an AuthorShare payment from World of Books who pay authors a royalty for second hand sales. My new favourite bookstore! Check it out. #booksky www.worldofbooks.com/en-gb/blogs/...

Husband just looked up my work on John Aubrey & got this! 🤣 He asked me if Aubrey & I are dating.

I’ve just bought some demonic bunny earrings!!!!! 😁

I’m on this recording & I don’t sound completely terrible 🫢

The recording of this event is now available on the @ihr.bsky.social website here www.history.ac.uk/podcasts/pla... This is a great watch for anyone interested in the possibilities of doing #place based #history research outside higher education institutions.

This was a brilliant event last night. A particular shout out to @lrylandepton.bsky.social for her fantastic contribution showcasing the work she is doing to pioneer #collaborative #coproduced histories as part of the process of undertaking research for @vchlondon.bsky.social #Bigredbooks

It is International World Happiness Day tomorrow. I am starting early by going to the pub for lunch. 🥳

More completely terrible news. I am so sorry for any young person with a physical or mental heath condition. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I am part of this panel. Just wrote some notes for it which make my work sound very fancy. 😁

Boosting this. Do you work on #earlymodern women and communities (broadly conceived)? See below for my topic and let me know (via DM) if you want to join a session for 2025 @16csociety.bsky.social

We @hobnobpress.bsky.social are shortly publishing this beauty. It tells the story of a Cotswold church that lovingly weaves evidence from the standing remains, archaeological excavations and documentary sources inc. churchwardens’ acc. & eyewitness records. www.hobnobpress.co.uk/books/p/your...

My piece for History Workshop looks back at what feels, I'm sure to me and so many other academics in the UK, like a decade-long crisis in universities. A crisis of politics, of a particularly venomous form of "education as market" ideology, and now a crisis of desperate, annihilating job cuts. 1/2

Happy 399th Birthday to John Aubrey!! I am delighted to be collaborating with Chippenham Museum & Kate Bennett on an exhibition to mark Aubrey’s 400th birthday in 2026. To celebrate this milestone, I will also be publishing Aubrey’s Natural History in its entirety for the first time.
