None of us would be who we are or where we are today without teachers. They deserve recognition for their hard work every day, but a special thank you today to all of the extraordinary educators across Illinois. Illinois’ future is bright because of you! #TeacherAppreciationDay

What an inspiring night with the Chicago Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists! The history and contributions of Black workers will never be erased. Thank you for preserving our past, celebrating trailblazers of today, and awarding scholarships to uplift our future!

Congratulations to Mark Turcotte, Illinois’ newly named Poet Laureate! I look forward to Mark's work drawing us closer to one another. What an honor to meet outgoing Poet Laureate, Angela Jackson, an accomplished and award-winning poet, novelist, and playwright.

While the Trump administration works overtime to sell out American families, @govpritzker.illinois.gov and I value Illinois families. We're all hands on deck to protect everyone who calls our state home.

I met Kaylyn when she joined the Illinois Council on Women and Girls, and knew she had to be part of our Voices of Impact panel. After surviving sexual assault, she helped create HB 5441, which closes a loophole that let offenders avoid prosecution.

Thank you, Senator.

Each voice carries the power to make a difference! Seven women shared their unfiltered stories— from farming and access to diapers to reentering society after incarceration. While their backgrounds are distinctly different, they're connected by the strength they carry. Thank you, City Club!

The wisdom’s in the room. I was honored to be in the room with women who are systems-impacted, along with First Lady MK Pritzker. Hurt people, hurt people, but healed people, heal people, and even more: free people, free people. It’s those voices who will heal communities.

LGBTQIA+ people deserve to feel safe and protected every day. I’m proud to be part of an administration that seeks solutions in community and builds meaningful relationships that deliver for everyone. This is what I mean when I say— our only way forward is together.

In Illinois, we believe the quality of your pregnancy and postpartum care shouldn’t be determined by your race, zip code, or economic status. It is a right, not a privilege, to carry a healthy pregnancy, deliver a healthy baby, and make it home to raise that baby in a healthy environment. #BMHW

In Illinois, we know knowledge is power, which is why we were the first state in the nation to put an end to book bans. We stand with our library workers and for your right to read! #LibraryWeek

Benard McKinley was the first person in Illinois to take the LSAT while incarcerated + graduated from the Northwestern Prison Education Program in 2023. Benard is now a law student and plans to be a civil rights attorney upon graduation. Way to go, Benard! #SecondChanceMonth

Trump and his team seem confused — or they truly don't care — about what tariffs will do to working people. He thinks he can manipulate other countries and jeopardize people's livelihoods because he's never had to live with the consequences of his actions.

Wishing you a vibrant week, Illinois! Let's do this 👊🏾

Democrats have a chance to stop this unconscionable submission to Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s impulses. I join Governor Pritzker and strongly urge a no vote on the Continuing Resolution.

As proud Edgar Fellows, Bryan and I join Illinoisans across the state in sending prayers of strength and healing to Gov. Jim Edgar. I’ve long admired his strength and tenacity and am confident he’ll be just as resilient as he faces the battle ahead. Be well, Governor!

Last week @govpritzker.illinois.gov presented our administration’s seventh, yes SEVENTH, consecutive balanced budget. We’re building on what works, strengthening our fiscal foundation and delivering for Illinoisans.

May we not lose sight of what Dr. King stood for.

Back at it, Springfield! Today’s the first day of session for the 104th General Assembly. Congratulations and let’s get to work 👊🏾

Preventing unwanted pregnancies is essential for protecting bodily autonomy and advancing health equity. In Illinois, we trust women. And we always will.

Heartbreaking news continues to develop this morning. Sending prayers of comfort to the families of the victims, and I thank our brave first responders and law enforcement. New Orleans, I'm sending you love and light.

The Illinois Grocery Initiative is a great example of the good government can do because every community—whether urban or rural—deserves access to fresh, nutrient-dense and culturally relevant food. #AgConnectsUsAll

And beginning next year, medical debt won’t impact your credit score in Illinois. Doing the right thing for the right reasons #LeadershipMatters.

It’s a blessing to be a blessing and this is what the holidays are all about. Hundreds of families had their Christmas wishes fulfilled—over 1,000 toys in one day—at the annual Christmas in the Wards. Thanks to Christmas in the Wards founder Larry Huggins for 28 years of blessing Chicago families!

The Illinois Center for Autism focuses on each person's unique potential instead of their limitations. That work is transferable and informs how we as leaders expand all spaces to be more welcoming for Illinois’ diverse people. Truly heartwarming to ring in the holidays with this community!

Good morning, Bluesky 🌤️ Let's get the conversation started!
