I just finished reading this article that really put to words my biggest annoyance with writing backend JavaScript. It’s a good read — the fact that the author complements Go is just icing on the cake :) journal.stuffwithstuff.com/2015/02/01/w...

Very cool. Very very cool. Can only assume we’re not getting updated Covid vaccines either. (Gift link courtesy of the Seattle Public Library) www.nytimes.com/2025/02/26/u...

The wind in Seattle tonight is no joke. Sitting without power and saw some wild flashes when it happened.

Ok, new Severance hypothesis: - Everyone in the town is severed - The people working on the severed floor at Lumon are "double-severed" - Mark's "outie-outie" works at a catering company in Los Angeles

I've experimenting with quantum computing. I wrote tests to show the "observing a qubit collapses the probability to a 1 or a 0" to myself running on real quantum machines. I hate it. Something is so fundamentally disturbing about this and what it says about reality. My brain just hates it.

At least they have a policy of truth

medium.com/@mbogen/is-g... Thinking about this article (by @mbogen.bsky.social ) today for no particular reason....

My favorite part of the Super Bowl was the score bug. You can have my utilitarian design when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

According to my math, Kansas City is in trouble.

Oh yeah, good luck to all runners this year. Now get off social media! https://www.npr.org/2018/02/10/584757764/there-is-a-competition-to-avoid-learning-who-won-the-super-bowl-for-some-reason

First drive of the game and the fix is in

“Backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government” hits different now

I'm trying to distract myself for the day by experimenting with quantum computing...only to find that Amazon Bracket's QPUs are offline on weekends. I know I can use the simulator, but I wanted the excitement of running my dumb circuits on actual quantum hardware...

More US State Department fuckery... On the Destination Information page for the UAE, the Passport Validity info has been changed to remove mentions of 'X' gender markers. Screenshots of what it looked like in 2024 vs now. "X" gender markers are still mentioned in the detailed description.

Gone fishin’

Every time I see those tax prep ads that advertise their AI integrations, I cringe a bit. Gonna be wild when people commit tax fraud via AI hallucination.

The real world has moved beyond yellow paint

Every time I go to Canada, I am reminded of just how much better their health infrastructure is than we have here. “4 tests in the mail when we feel like it” vs at the pharmacy “hey just help yourself”….

There's a vote happening about this on a large (~2.4k members) Seattle Kraken fan discord I'm in.

I genuinely don’t know how Democrats could have fucked the TikTok ban up more than they did. An own-goal to sit atop the history of own-goals. Just an absolute masterclass that even Charlie Lindgren could learn from. youtu.be/80maJfaLMp8

Seattle Kraken game update. I went to the game wearing a hat. I left the game without a hat.

I have updated isthereaseattlehomegametoday.com to report on games from UW Basketball (both men's and women's). It also checks for major concerts at T-Mobile Park, Lumen Field, and Climate Pledge Arena (so if Taylor Swift comes to town, it will alert on that)

I suspect this doesn’t actually work, but this one gets bonus points for remembering the `--no-preserve-root`

This is the one and only way to watch football

Pretty impressive being wrong in multiple ways, I'll grant you that.

You know when you see a website like this, you've got the Real Shit™. No AI generated slop here.

I’m 5’5” so I rely on these people to get the good snacks that are on the top shelf of the Safeway. Luckily, most folks are accommodating and will help if I ask, even if I do have to get their attention by reaching up and tapping them on the knee.

Quote with a title screen that is iconic to you.

Being accidentally included on a large email chain can be incredibly fun and funny. The one time it wasn’t was when I was on an email chain from the Watch Dogs ARG in 2012 where they accidentally put everyone on CC instead of BCC.

I’m in this picture and I don’t like it…

Got stuck on #AdventOfCode day 24 part 2. Had some ideas and played a bit…but it didn’t go anywhere. Then I took a shower and partway through, it dawned on me how to solve it. I literally yelled “OMG I KNOW HOW TO DO THIS” out loud. A little late to work on it now, but hopefully tomorrow!

Finished off Nine Sols (true ending, for the curious). Damn, one hell of a game. Definitely see the Sekiro comparisons and definitely on-par with Sekiro difficulty-wise. Excellent game (and a bangin' soundtrack, too)

An actual comment from my solution to today's #AdventOfCode
