We know what we have to do to save our city from Andrew Cuomo. We're cross endorsing 🤝 @bradlander.bsky.social

ALX folks, I need a good electrician. We have had a flood, literal and figurative, of home repair issues. Really appreciate your recommendations. I need someone who communicates well, knows what they are doing, and will charge me less than the price of a used car. Thank you!

I have removed the bike lanes that were in the road and which you were probably using to get to work Forgive me they were delicious so crunchy and so cold

City government painted over chalk with black paint???

this is a rhetorical question right

This appears to cost less than a replacement tire for an American-sized fire truck

Have you been dreaming of being the proud owner of a 1990s Japanese fire truck? Do I have the listing for you: bringatrailer.com/listing/1997...

This is excellent. When all you have is a hammer and sickle, everything looks like concentrated corporate power. Liberalism's insight is skepticism of power in general. Populism presupposes heroes and villains. Democrats will keep losing until they can deliver on what normal people care about.

In 1980, three large suburban countries — Canada, Australia, and the United States — had very similar, and very high, traffic fatality rates. Canada and Australia have followed similar sharp downward trajectories, while the US has stayed more elevated. Why?

Montreal bike share reaching 70,000 riders per day consistently. I wonder how the transit strike this week will affect it.

Hilarious

I bravely declare that looting is bad and does not fix anything.

I am concluding that hanging out on social media is bad for people. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

After consideration, I will post occasionally, but heavily censor what I share compared to other sites. I tried making the transition, but talking about AI here is just really fraught in ways that are tough to mitigate & make it hard to have good discussions (the point of social!). Maybe it changes

Sweet

Just a suggestion from a neutral outside observer, I don't know if there's a way for anyone to get this message to them, but maybe Donald Trump and Elon Musk should spend less time on social media.

if Andrew Cuomo was a normal human being, he would probably regret sexually harassing a dozen women. or maybe he would regret forcing nursing homes to accept covid-positive patients and then covering it up. or maybe he’d regret shutting down a nuclear plant that was replaced by fossil fuels

Instructive discussion below, alas it does not make critics look much better.

Bluesky automatically labled this comment as rude, which I disagree with.

Recommendations for where to get tropical vaccines in Northern Virginia?

Why does the bond market suddenly (?) appear to care about U.S. federal debt?

Nasty car collision on Braddock and Van Dorn. Two ambulances. Regardless of what happened, that intersection and Braddock and Hampton are both dangerous. I just watched a car turn left from Hampton onto Braddock an an elderly woman with a cane crossed. The west end of Braddock needs a diet.

A GOP attendee of our first meetup earnestly told me that including Republicans is important because many of them are big believers in Abundance and, he argued, the movement can constructively fill a vacuum of policy ideas in right-wing populism.

Need a reputable, communicative electrician near Alexandria, thanks for recommendations

This is transparently true.

My review of a NJ ice cream stand: "Delicious ice cream with many unique flavors. How beautiful that we came to this shop on Memorial Day and that it is in a duplex. A reminder that dense housing is as American as apple pie, and our towns and cities need more of it for young families to thrive."

Maybe im turning Japanese but this lady beside me has her feet on BART seats which explain why they're covered in dirt all the time A big improvement would be BART doing the public behavior PSAs Japan does. I love those posters just everywhere saying dont block people, queue correctly, be clean etc

Japanese trains seem super optimized for speed as well. Tokyo subways running 1 min intervals are blasting station to station at 40-50MPH and interurbans i rode from Kyoto to Osaka are smoking freeway traffic.
