The expression is not “the proof is in the pudding”! It’s “the proof of the pudding is in the eating”—which, unlike the bastardized version, actually makes sense!

Last time Trump called for remigration (a form of ethnic cleansing), national media outlets absolutely failed to cover it. They NEED to do a better job explaining it this time. www.mediamatters.org/donald-trump...

When is Netflix going to wrap up "Stranger Things"? The finale will have to change now that the actors and actresses are well into adulthood. #Netflix #StrangerThings

So…about AI’s energy use… “…to create a five-second video, a newer AI model uses ‘about 3.4 million joules, more than 700 times the energy required to generate a high-quality image’. That's the equivalent of running a microwave for over an hour.”

Home Depot sells too many non-native and invasive plants. I want stuff native to the Midwest. #gardening

Google needs to stop messing with the layout of Drive. and I didn't ask for Gemini to be embedded into Drive. I want consistency.

Something tells me this is wrong. hmmm

There is a thought that a telltale indicator of economic downturn in the U.S.A. is when law school admissions are up. I'm thinking another "indicator" is a spike in gambling, whether it is sports betting or playing the lottery. #wealthinequality #economics

Why can't University of Michigan keep a president after they signed a massive new contract?

Catholic religious communities have been doing this. Lay and vowed religious. Young and elderly. I think this would help make a dent in the housing shortage and widespread feeling of loneliness. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/04/b...

I hope everyone knows that it's very easy for any social content platform, including Bluesky, to be a misery machine and that if you aren't intentional about it, they will absolutely decrease the positive impact you have on the world while making you less happy.

USL side Loudoun United are in first place. Behind the scenes, things are much bleaker: turf coming apart at the seams. Showers that don’t work. Players washing their own kits. And a new owner. on @theathleticfc.bsky.social, life at the top of the USL table: www.nytimes.com/athletic/628...

Ecorse has a population of about 9,000 people. I imagine it is difficult to maintain a city budget off of that size of a population. It would make (financial) sense for it to be part of Wyandotte, although probably a painful transition. www.detroitnews.com/story/news/l...

Why do people like Pat McAfee? so many sports pundits today are lame

National Amateur Cup The 101st edition of the tournament kicked off in the Northeast on Sunday. Eight Round 1 games in the #USASA Region I Amateur Cup featured blowouts, a dramatic extra time, and four former champions. Recap by @battista.bsky.social, game info below: thecup.us/2025/04/08/2...

Today I learned Nolan Bushnell, who co-founded Atari, also founded Chuck E. Cheese. He wanted to expand video game arcades outside of bars and pool halls into more family-friendly venues.

Beautiful review of Everything Is Tuberculosis and the idea of a preferential option for the poor (which was born of Catholic liberation theology). www.ncronline.org/culture/book...

Watching my first Red Wings game in a while on tv. When did they add the boxing bell sound effect to the broadcast? hahaha #LGRW #RedWings

Cory Booker breaking Strom Thurmond's record filibuster of the 1957 Civil Rights Act, 24 hours and 18 minutes, while talking about John Lewis is very appropriate.

A real beaut from Darwin in the 50th 🤩

I am curious what shows children these days watch, akin to Reading Rainbow. Programming like that had such a positive impact on young me.

Video games have been part of mainstream American culture for a while now. I think there isn't much original IP now because these large gaming companies are too rigid. Teensy developers Novadust Entertainment made #Europa, which I finished today. Maybe I should play more indie games. 😮‍💨🤔

I have never had a dog as a pet. What I don't understand is why does it seem relatively expensive to have a pet dog? Was it always like this in the U.S.? i don't understand

@mediamolecule.bsky.social If Sony releases a PSP successor, can we please get a Little Big Planet bundle?

If the awards were to happen next week, I say Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Van Dijk would top the ballots. #Ballond'or

One thing I love about the men's #OpenCup is that the professional teams tend to win the battle for possession and have more accurate passes *but* the amateur and semi-pro sides are more clinical with their chances.

BREAKING: On a 5-4 order, SCOTUS denies DOJ’s motion to vacate Judge Ali’s State/USAID order, but notes that his prior deadline passed, so Ali is going to have to go back to the drawing board and “clarify” what the gov’t needs to do, “with due regard for the feasibility of any compliance timelines.”

Microsoft bought Skype in 2011. Skype was the premier app for video calls. In 2020, a global pandemic happened. People rely on video calls. Some app nobody heard of to stomp Skype into oblivion. In 2025, Microsoft is shutting down Skype. ugh

I'd flip this. The right has an ideologically coherent project, which is the defense of hierarchies that have dominated American society and opposition to policies that undermine them. Liberals and the left by contrast believe vaguely in helping people they feel sorry for but don't agree how or why.
