Day 13

Day 12

Day 11

Keep forgetting to do this! Day 10

🚨RCN NI members🚨 YOUR PAY - YOUR SAY It takes less than a minute to cast your vote 🗳️ Please check your emails. The vote has opened to get YOUR thoughts on the pay award for HSC staff employed on AFC contracts. Please read all the information and make an informed decision.

Day 9

This seems bad for staff and patients www.businessinsider.com/uber-for-nur... bid to the bottom devalues nursing and suggests that skills and experience aren't important. Also makes it less likely you will end up in the same place multiple times because you're not a name your a box

Not that I actually expect much from @thesun.co.uk but if you're going to put a list of recommended gifts at the bottom of the article do make sure they aren't the gifts the article says people hate 🤦‍♀️ www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/324...

Day 8

Today started off as 1 of those days when you wonder why you love this job. But actually by the end it turned into a decent day, although maybe I have just gone manic!

Looking for 2 experience Nurse leaders to lead our Teams in the NW and Eastern/East Mids regions. careers.rcn.org.uk/Vacancies/Va...

Government has the power to improve nursing pay, but right now the UK govt has suggested only funding a 2.8% pay increase for NHS staff in England next year. We say the PRB process is outdated. It's time for direct negotiations on pay. Agree? Sign our open letter: buff.ly/3VDEkfN

Day 7

HCAs, APs, NAs in all sectors The RCN & Nursing Support Workers Committee have co-produced a survey in a bid to find out what members in support worker roles need from the RCN Help to improve RCN services for you & your peers. Deadline is 31 December. surveys.rcn.org.uk/s/SFDP8E/

As someone with multimorbidity I prefer 'work' to 'burden', it's not always a burden, it's just my life, and actually there are good things. Increased ability to self-advocate. Specialist and personalised knowledge. Resilience. Persistence. Empathy. I wouldn't be the same person without my MM.

Day 6

Oops missed Day 5

Was my first week back to fulltime last week...and I am still exhausted, but back in again tomorrow. Shifts were particularly heavy ones tbh, so think only part of it is about my health. Was in charge with patients on Saturday and Sunday, and Saturday is assessment day so always busy.

Day 4

Day 3

Day 2

So upsetting that this is becoming normal. Having to worry about patient's oxygen because they are using cannisters. A patient left in urine soaked clothes because there is nowhere for personal care. Unable to do an essential ECG because there is no wall socket. A few of the issues 😪 #CorridorCare

Been looking up research on nursing checklists and came across one about humanist ICU nursing, as in a checklist for nurses to communicate with their patients. It seems that it made patients more satisfied, but it also seems sad and fake to have this as a checklist pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37551195/

Inspired by @hannahfearn.bsky.social 'Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers .' Day 1

Great turn out for yesterday's @thercn.bsky.social NRN webinar on being in-charge. About 100 attendees 🎊. If you missed it we were recording and the video will be avaliable online. We have some other webinar topics we're considering so keep an eye out for them

Abstracts authored by all-female teams are less likely to get accepted for presentation at economics conferences than those authored by all-male teams, even after adjusting for the authors’ prior track records and institutional prestige

Join us this evening at 6pm. There's still time to sign-up @thercn.bsky.social members and none members welcome #RCNNRN #NurseSky

WONDERING how to step confidently into leadership as a newly registered nurse? UNSURE about handling your first shift as nurse in charge? DONT PANIC ! 🙀 JOIN OUR webinar for Newly Qualified Nurses 11 Dec 2024, 18:00 - 19:00 Non-members welcome 🤗 #NurseSky www.rcn.org.uk/news-and-eve...

Actually off to @thercn.bsky.social W Mids branch and board today after my failed start last week 🙈. Looking forward to seeing our incoming S Bham committee

This Wednesday. That came along quickly! Who will be joining me? #RCNNRN #NurseSky @thercn.bsky.social

If this really happens, and they do a full shift it could be interesting. Just so long as they get an 'average' person to follow, shadowing a matron, for example, would give a different picture to a staff nurse

My most recent blog for @thercn.bsky.social Newly-Registered Network looked as speaking up as a NRN. Some of our discussions with members have suggested that this is an area where being an NRN can make things more difficult.

This is absolutely insane. What are you meant to do if the time runs out? Stop operating and finish in a 'new' surgery later? Leave patiemt with a bill for the 'extra' time? Or just not do the surgery because the patient can't afford to pay if it goes over?

Next Wednesday! Please share with any NRN or StN colleagues/friends who may be interested #NurseSky @thercn.bsky.social
