Just finished this wonderful little book from @maureenjohnsonbooks.com, @jaycooper.bsky.social and @bloomsburyraven.bsky.social. It’s hilarious, dark and brilliantly illustrated! It’s been a rough start to January but this has cheered me up no end!

Tonight I’m celebrating leaving my academic job to focus on my writing! Merry Christmas and thank you to everyone who has helped me to get here!

One of the highlights of Wolverhampton Literature Festival- Cads and Criminality: Jane Austen and the Birth of Detective Fiction - ⁦‪⁦‪Lucy Andrew‬⁩, author and critic. Definitely one for my Austen’s Afterlives students. 1st Feb, free! wolvesliteraturefestival.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/...

I had my last day on campus in Chester yesterday before I leave my job to focus on my writing. I have particularly enjoyed visiting the Christmas market this year!

If you’re looking for a free way to support an author, did you know you can ask your library to stock a book you want to read that they don’t have yet? And usually it’s a very basic online form? Google your library name plus the words “request a title” or “suggest a title” to find yours.

I’ve loved being involved with the Cheshire Prize for Literature this year and it’s lovely to see the anthology out in the world. We had a brilliant launch event last night with writers sharing some of their work from the anthology.

To celebrate our new-found #booksky community, I'm giving away a book OF YOUR CHOICE up up to the value of £20 to one lucky winner! To enter: follow me, repost and tag a buddy below. UK only, winner chosen 6/12/24. Gotta be in it to win it!!

Incredibly exciting #NancyDrew news!!!

Time for my first ever bluesky announcement - I’ve teamed up with @litpinsandco.bsky.social to create a range of MMU pin badges! They’re available for pre-order now, for delivery in early 2025 - don’t delay if you want to be part of this first print run! litpinsandco.com/collections/...

The good news is, I like snow. The bad news is I have a long train commute to work and I don’t finish teaching until 7pm tonight. Hope the trains can cope!
