There's been a lot of focus on hooks and observers in #bevy development lately. I do see the value in using it for specific cases, but I've ended up in the trap of not thinking in batches on occasion, especially with the observers.

Been working on `no_std` support for the #bevy game engine. It might not look like much, but here's a Bevy game compiled for the GameBoy Advance running in an emulator on an Android phone! The next release (0.16) will include this support for everyone! #gamedev

Just tried to read up on Perl and now bash doesn't seem so bad. Perl having scalars, arrays and dictionaries; each having their own namespaces was just too weird and I said no. NO! $foo is a scalar, and you can have an array named @foo at the same time, and also a dictionary %foo. Why not.

I can never make up my mind about bash scripts. The simplicity of just calling a series of CLI commands is nice, but the obscure syntax for everything else is so frustrating. Wondering if it's worth putting my automation stuff into Perl. Just gotta learn Perl... #indiedev

Love it when you find a tool that can solve your problem in a simple way. jqlang.github.io/jq/ is the hero of the day! I wanted to add some additional data to a JSON file generated by another program. I've put the extra data in another JSON and use a Jq script to merge the two. #indiedev

Remember when Hayao Miyazaki designed a model kit, and it was a redonculous multi turret tank with a 20 pig strong crew, including chef and waiter? Yeah good times.

I wonder how different video games would be if the industry focused a bit less on killing your darlings and a tad more on making odd stuff work. (I'm trying to get my background graphics to work, even though it's just an easter egg - famous Finnish tall buildings suggested by people on Mastodon).

Took me about an hour to churn through migrating my project to #bevy 0.15. Time to play with the new toys!
