The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

Auch das United States Geological Survey ("Amerikanischer Erdbebendienst") hat sein Kartenthema aktualisiert. Bei der Globalansicht fällt die hervorgehobene Grenze der USA und die Signatur für Washington DC auf. Auf Lokalebene sind nur die USA sehr detalliert. Und die Niederlande im Meer versunken.

Auch wenn es die nächsten Tage wieder kälter wird, kann man sehen: Der Phänologische Winter ist vorbei. Die Hasel und einige Frühblüher wie Winterling und Schneeglöckchen blühen regional schon. In den wärmeren Regionen des Landes zu diesem Zeitpunkt im Jahr auch nicht (mehr) ungewöhnlich. #Frühling

#ClimateChange played a role in #StormEowyn. The storm started as a Diabatic Rossby Wave (DRW), which was fuelled by latent energy from very moist air over much too warm sea surfaces. Extreme #Wärme heute im Südwesten Deutschlands! Höchsttemperaturen bis knapp 19 °C, dazu 111 Dekadenrekorde und 17 Monatsrekorde (Stand 14 Uhr). Darunter auch regelrechte Rekord-Pulverisierungen, auch an Stationen mit langen Zeitreihen. In Bad Dürkheim z.B. 17,9 °C (alter Rekord 16,8 °C, + 1,1 K!)

Mit #Eowyn droht Irland in den nächsten rund 24 Stunden ein historischer Sturm. Verbreitet sind im Inland Orkanböen von 120-140, teils 160km/h zu erwarten. An der Westküste 160-180km/h. Teils sind sogar 200km/h denkbar. Es drohen schwere Schäden und verbreitete Stromausfälle.

#Japan gedenkt Heute, am 30. Jahrestag, den Toten des Hanshin-Awaji-Erdbebens. In der Millionenstadt Kobe starben bei dem #Erdbeben (M6,9) 6.437 Menschen, 43.792 wurden verletzt, 249.180 Gebäude zerstört und 390.506 beschädigt.
