Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene disclosed that she had purchased between tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stock on April 8 and 9, the day before and the day of President Trump’s announcement that he was pausing a sweeping set of global tariffs.

California doesn’t work without Canadian tourism If elected your Prime Minister on April 28, I will immediately begin discussions with Premier Newsom to welcome California into confederation as Canada’s 11th province – the Golden Province

"...[As] traditional media outlets are in decline and journalists struggle to vet candidates for public office...people from these obscure Facebook Groups...[are]...building political power and running for office." By @lukelebrun.ca @policyalternatives.ca www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc...

It’s so upsetting seeing people say the CTV cancellation — which was purely bc of right-wing trolls — was actually deserved bc I shared a Liberal misstep. I won’t blindly “both sides” things, but please don’t make your support of my work contingent on me being blind to any one party’s mistakes.

CBC’s story was updated again: After an internal investigation, the Liberal Party now confirms its staffers went to the right-wing Canada Strong and Free Network political conference and planted fake buttons, as originally reported: www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

CBC updated its story with more details: • The Liberal war room was drinking at D’Arcy McGees • The staffer in question was involved in their opposition research unit • The staffer said it with full knowledge that a journalist was sitting next to him at the bar, confirmed it, then later denied it

“In two Ottawa bars, campaign workers shared how the party was behind this move — how two Liberal staffers attended the conference intended for conservatives and placed these buttons in areas where attendees would find them One of those conversations was in the immediate earshot of this journalist”

If you’re Andrew Scheer’s campaign manager, do you advise him to: a) Campaign for re-election back home in Saskatchewan b) Stay in Ottawa and film videos that permanently burn an image in voters’ minds of Andrew Scheer day drinking in a bar while whispering to them that they do too much meth

Andrew Scheer is the one guy day drinking alone before noon in Lieutenant’s Pump:

Beware that we are now entering into the phase of the federal election cycle where campaigns start getting really weird and over-protective about their election signs

The way I burst out laughing walking by this house

Pierre Poilievre dropped five candidates in one week, yet he continues to stand behind Aaron Gunn and Andrew Lawton For @thestar.com, I ask why is Poilievre standing behind these candidates with extreme and controversial views when he has thrown others under the bus for arguably lesser offences?

“The solution is not to have one single source of news and information,” LeBrun said. “What I would actually propose we need is a diverse and democratic media ecosystem” “We should also have smaller independent outlets, ideally operating on a non-profit model, that can step in to fill in the gaps”

Pretty significant local opposition to incumbent Conservative candidate Michelle Ferreri in Peterborough, Ontario:

Great discussion at the Canoe Museum last night on the importance of a diverse independent media ecosystem, including the CBC, in countering tariff & other misinfo. @canadianlabour.bsky.social @lukelebrun.ca (and what a venue!) Nice of the #Ptbo NDP, Green and Liberal candidates to show up!

Peterborough’s canoe museum is on Time Magazine’s 100 greatest places in the world list

Great to be in Peterborough for We Vote CBC’s “Truth and the Trade War” event with federal candidates tonight I spoke about why an independent Canadian media (including non-profit news organizations and our public broadcaster) are essential for Canada's sovereignty

“The Conservatives claimed that the Edmonton-area rally was attended by 15,000 people, for example. CBC News counted roughly 1,558 in one panorama photo shared by the campaign”

Interesting. If memory serves, @jessebrown.bsky.social cut @parismarx.com saying that “many people say Israel is committing genocide” because Paris didn’t attribute it to anyone in particular. But when his own reporter says “some people did feel” that Rachel isn’t a good fact checker, it’s fine.

If you occupy the downtown core of a city for 3 weeks, block police / emergency vehicles and create a generally unsafe and lawless environment, yes you do share some responsibility for what happens as a result of the conditions you have created
