The new American Pope Leo XIV, is the son of a WWII veteran Chicago school superintendent father and accomplished Catholic school teacher mother. What a country! chicago.suntimes.com/religion/202...

I never thought I’d live long enough to see an American 🇺🇸 Pope. I’m crying right now. Wow!

White smoke!!! Praise be 🙏

I’m a huge NBA fan and I still haven’t grasped how 20+ point leads no longer mean anything. It’s crazy. When Portland blew a 15pt lead to the Lakers in the playoffs 25 years ago it was considered the collapse of collapse.

Starting to see the screenshots of tariff increases on social stories and posts followed by 🤔. The beginning of the beginning is here.

So many self owns.

This is very scary. Let’s pray it’s just a temporary flex.

This is great.

I always think it’ll be 10x worse but I actually think this is the one where the GOP Congress blinks. They have a lot of leverage if they want before the “big beautiful bill.”

Because some 18th in command clown wants to flex and play GI Joe. These pointless flights endanger and kill innocent people.

Sovereignty beats Journalism. Oh what an omen. 🇺🇸

During the MSNBC town hall — "100 Days of Trump: Forced Out Federal Workers" — @jacobsoboroff.bsky.social reports from West Virginia, where funding for health care screening for "black lung" in coal miners has been cut by DOGE and protections for miners may be in jeopardy.

I think about this a lot. Two things- 1. People are absolutely exhausted and just trying to get by. 2. Even if you do the work of rising up, you need to live with the fact your neighbor voted to bring all this back despite January 6th, felony convictions & Project 2025. Apathy is understandable.

"But if the situation is not changed quickly, American consumers will feel the impact of trade changes unfold over the next three to six months, he said. “We’re going to have higher prices and, in some cases, empty shelves,” he said. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/b...

Honestly surprised that LeBron’s career as a Laker has been so mid. Odd roster construction and coaching dysfunction. Wish he could have a shot at one last run.

Every day during a Democratic Administration for the last 20 years I heard, "Only the GOP can deliver businesses the reduced regulatory environment and economic certainty to expand and create growth!" www.cnbc.com/2025/04/30/g...

Stayed up late following the Canadian election and I realized how much being a parliamentary democracy would fix the USA.

Trump is "soft-launching" his third term. Forget that he's trampling the Constitution. Once his MAGA defenders start wearing these hats around, it begins the process of normalizing the idea. That's the goal. That's the tactic. It's authoritarian marketing.

It still feels like this Administration & their allies in Congress do not expect to face a “normal electorate” in 2026. 🤷‍♂️ www.nytimes.com/2025/04/25/u...

Trump has enough clout within the GOP to break party orthodoxy and push this, if he did, seeing how popular COVID money was...people would call for a 3rd term: oaklandside.org/2025/04/23/o...

Maddow: 88% of the country says no, no, he cannot defy a supreme court ruling. Only 9% say yes he can. And you know, it's not the same thing. But I should mention that 9% is also the proportion of Americans who told yougov this week that they have a favorable view of the black plague

JFK: “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” Reagan: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” Trump: “Vladimir, stop!”

Amen

In his last days on earth, Francis thanked healthcare workers, visited prisoners and blessed the faithful on Easter despite being told to slow down. Truly the People’s Pope.

OPINION: Jorge Mario Bergoglio becoming pope was a singular event, likely not to be repeated in our lifetimes. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

At his core, Francis understood people. He knew the true teachings of Christ resonated on the treatment of others. His papacy was a needed reform for a faith too bogged down in dogmatic layers of unimportant process. Where too many fixated on judgment and not compassion.
