This moment when the penny drops that trying to implement bathroom bans is an impossibility for the former Tory Chief Secretary Simon Clarke is delicious.

Our water industry is a shambles. Pipes are crumbling, bills are rising, and nobody is stepping up to do something about it. It's not good enough - the Government must put Thames Water into special administration. My piece for @politics.co.uk www.politics.co.uk/mp-comment/2...

Honoured to be part of the latest issue of Jump into Sutton - the great magazine produced by learners at Sutton College. Some fantastic questions!

Some fantastic conversations in Cheam Village today as part of my street surgery. Always keen to hear from residents about issues big or small - from fly-tipping to the Chancellor's jobs tax and beyond. And great to stop in at the Sutton Assembly Rooms to see the Friday market too.

The Chancellor's policies have failed to get debt under control. If we want growth - the Chancellor must scrap her disastrous NIC jobs tax. news.sky.com/story/govern...

Really enjoyed paying a visit to 6th form students from Greenwood School at the Parliamentary Education Centre yesterday. Some fantastic questions about the future of our country - from some clearly very bright teenagers. You give me hope for the future!

I had a wonderful time visiting Cheam Sports Club earlier this week. Great to see so many young people having fun, learning to keep fit and developing their skills in such a warm and welcoming setting. We're lucky to have such a strong community with groups like these.

Let's be absolutely clear. Putin and his cronies being allowed to carve up Ukraine, overseen by a Trump administration stitch-up, wouldn't just be a dereliction of duty. It would be a total capitulation to the enemies of freedom. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Another reminder that the Mayor's transport plans for Outer London just aren't good enough - and people in the outskirts of our city, whether south, north, east or west, have had enough. We need a serious review of Outer London transport policy ASAP. www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/2510760...

I was really disappointed with the other parties' approach to our calls to speed up vital repairs at St Helier yesterday. The Conservatives deny reality whilst the Govt just wanted to talk about the past, not the future. Meanwhile patients and staff continue to suffer. It's not ok.

Farage's comments show Reform UK will axe Send funding if they take control of councils, Lib Dems say - www.theguardian.com/politics/liv...

Really worrying that Keir Starmer wouldn't commit to a vote in Parliament on a Trump trade deal when I asked him just now. If the government really thinks it's a good deal for Britain, what are they so afraid of?

For years, patients and staff have had to put up with crumbling walls and unacceptable waits at St Helier. Today, in Parliament, myself and my Lib Dem colleagues will force a vote to reverse the Government's delays to the vital works our local NHS needs. My joint statement with Lib Dem colleagues:

Happy St George’s Day to all across London! We should take every opportunity to celebrate our rich history, culture and wonderful communities who make England the incredible country that it is.

Pope Francis’ passing is a profound loss to millions across the world. He was a leader of compassion and courage, speaking up for those in need and calling for peace in a world too often divided.

A very Happy Easter to all celebrating across the UK and around the world today!

Another reminder that the US admin., just like the Tories and Reform in the UK, are not interested in ‘Free Speech’, they are interested in controlling speech, and allowing hate and misinformation to spread. Liberals must be aware of the paradox of tolerance, and not allow these people to win.

I’m shocked by the brutal murder of Mr Laeeq Cheema — an #Ahmadi Muslim killed in a mob attack in Karachi simply for his faith. The government must do all it can to force #Pakistan to end this appalling persecution of #Ahmadi Muslims. stopthepersecution.org/violent-mob-...

The Supreme Court decision will be causing concerns for many in the LGBTQ+ community. I support the call from Christine Jardine MP for the government to clarify how the rights of our trans and non binary friends will be protected.

“Years of historic underinvestment in favour of profit has run the business into the ground”, writes Lib Dem MP @luketaylorld.bsky.social 🗣️ Thames Water is failing, Ofwat is toothless — and the public is paying the price www.politics.co.uk/mp-comment/2...

No Mr Trump. Russia started the war.

My heart breaks for my colleague Wera and for everyone in Hong Kong (and worryingly, here in the U.K.) living with the intimidation of the Chinese government. We must keep fighting for justice for the people of Hong Kong, with whom we share a Commonwealth history. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Chag Pesach Sameach! To everybody celebrating Passover this evening and over the coming days - I wish you a happy, fulfilling and joyful celebration.

This is really unfair to everyone who just voted for him for the racism.

Pleased to be helping the Sutton Lib Dems campaign for the Sutton Central by-election on Thursday. I know Richard Choi will make a great councillor and addition to @luketaylorld.bsky.social’s team.

Well, I don’t imagine I made a lot of friends at Thames Water today! But I was proud to use the chance to take them to task for their shocking record in Westminster Hall. Customers, and our river, deserve so much better.

My statement on Trump’s reckless trade war.

Yesterday I was able to ask the Minister of State for Policing Dame Diana Johnson about the alarming police raid on the Westminster Quaker Meeting House. Watch it here: youtu.be/wwaJuOq2Yck?...

NEW DATA Numbers released to my office by the Met show that more than 9 in 10 tool thefts in London went unsolved in the last 5 years. Shocking. We've got to get a grip on this. We are allowing this kind of crime to threaten the livelihoods of so many people.

Today's Spring Statement is make or break for our high streets. The Govt's foolish NI hike will hit small businesses, lower people’s living standards and undermine the very growth the government says it wants. This is their chance to scrap it.

Today is #PurpleDay and I'm supporting this year’s theme of #StandUpToSeizures. Today is an opportunity to raise awareness for the 630,000 in the UK who have epilepsy. Remember the 3 "C"s when - stay Calm, prop up the head with a Cushion, and Call an ambulance. www.epilepsysociety.org.uk

Backing young people requires all of us. Grants are now available from the Asda Foundation, aimed at helping grassroots groups to support young people between the ages of 13 and 21. Up to £500,000 is available across the UK. Find out more about applying here: asdafoundation.org/our-grants/y...

Pharmacies are the frontline of community care. If more of them shutter, so many people will suffer. As financial pressures on pharmacies rise, the Govt just isn't doing enough to support them. Alongside my Lib Dem colleagues I wrote to Wes Streeting to ask him to save community pharmacies.

JD Vance and his mates clearly aren’t fit to run a group chat, let alone the world’s strongest military force. It has to make our security services nervous about the intelligence we’re sharing with them.

The failure of a single piece of infrastructure should not have taken down the whole airport. This has exposed a shocking vulnerability in a hugely important piece of critical national infrastructure. The Government should launch an urgent inquiry.

This is the problem. It’s not all the fault of Labour tho, they were forced to counter the Tory lies and false promises with their own impossible commitments. But they won. Now they have to deliver, or admit they are breaking promises. It’s almost like being in government is difficult. Shock.
