Comedians often make great actors because of their empathy and breadth of understanding of the mechanics of the human condition. Clearly those skills can translate beautifully to political leaders too.

Facebook just showed me this picture from 13 years ago and literally the only thing that's changed about me is I had three breakdowns and got a lot fatter.

Turns out drm removal on ebooks is harder than I thought. Sod off Amazon I bought the damn things...

Having "fun" trying to download our shared Kindle library in full before Amazon's stupid new rules come into effect. Think I've managed to get most of them but some books just WILL NOT download. And now I'm working on ripping out the DRM. Next step will be Audible too..

Catching up on Top of the Pops repeats. The double whammy of Placebo and Skunk Anansie would be music to my ears a few years later (and to this day!) but I'd stopped watching TOTP regularly by this point so missed both of those bangers.

Happy birthday #HOTFUZZKID. #hotfuzz

New things you can't talk about on GallyBase apparently: the way people use surnames to talk about Eccleston, Tennant, Smith and Capaldi, then switch to first names for "Jodie and Ncuti". Because of course only the white men get the accolade of surname recognition.

Dawning realisation both times Doctor Who has intentionally rebooted for an international audience, they promised a fresh start with a sexy, young Doctor on an oversized TARDIS set but then started the era with a continuity heavy rematch against an old enemy with an actor from the previous version.

I'd somehow missed this news but just pre-ordered. I had tons of Hammer films on off-air tx vhs and a smattering on pre-recorded VHS, then had a wodge on DVD, but fell behind massively on the blu-ray upgrades and only ended up with a small handful of them. Going to try & stay on top of the 4K's.

When I see senior people in firms complain that juniors don't want to go back to the office I always think how being at home often helps juniors get their stuff done (task based jobs) but makes it harder for seniors (cos so much of your stuff is meetings/decision making that's easier face to face).

Lunchtime Tiermaker - Bond Films vs Bond Themes

*Looks at the 4 variants of We Live Here and 7 variants of Humble As The Sun on my shelves.* Do ya THINK, Tidal? Do ya THINK? Wasn't I just listening to them on your service two days ago while on the move?

The more I listen to it, the more I think this might be the best song of the last decade and possibly longer.

As much as I loathe Meta, I find myself drawn still to Facebook Memories, and how strange they can be. Recent ones include: Simple Minds playing along with my tribute to Brian Pern after his "death"; the announcement of Pompidou I wrote entirely in Pompispeak; and TVO getting bigged up by T-Pain.

The dawning realisation that next year is the 40th anniversary of both Labyrinth and Highlander - both two of the heavily reissued films of the 1980s, and you just know film studios are already dreaming up over expensive reissues with just two minutes of previously unseen material on them.

Amazon have allegedly cast edgy right-wing $60m (former) Netflix comedian Man-Wulf as the new James Bond. The new theme song: "Make Me A Sandwich", will be the first Bond theme to feature product placement thanks to a deal with McDonalds spokesperson and the track's composer Stormzy.

I just wanna know how many people kicking off about Stormzy taking a McDonald's deal (which, admittedly is an ikky thing to do) are quite happy chomping down on a Big Mac and a box of chicken nuggets themselves. Cos I suspect it's most of them tbh.

James Bond: The Eon Era [1961-2025]

Still reeling from the fact there were not one but TWO separate and unconnected references to former presenters of CITV's seminal reboot How 2 (but not the show) at last night's Stewart Lee gig. But also still reeling from the realisation there are people alive who don't know who Gaz-Top is.

Facebook memories reminded me of the time ten years ago when Metrolink straight up burned me for my pathetic attempt at sarcasm.

Can't quite believe this but thanks to some quirk of theatre membership, rubbish tickets we got for an upcoming show have been able to be swapped to REALLY GOOD seats for a second date, right now online in under a minute, before they go on sale in the morning. Which is a cheeky bonus.

A hurricane, ripping through the structure of this universe, disrupting every particle. The falling of the structure of the universe. A cataclysm of unknown proportions or patterns.

Thanks to the couple in front of me at Stewart Lee tonight I now have this song stuck in my head.
