This is dangerous. Trump wants to hand over FAA to Musk and SpaceX. This means your taxpayer-purchased air traffic control facilities and equipment, packages, and emergency flights would be under control of SpaceX, which is unchecked by the flying public and U.S. military.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

Given developments at the Kennedy Center, effective today I am resigning as artistic advisor to the NSO. Not for me. It’s been a wonderful 8 years working with Kennedy Center President Deb Rutter, fellow artistic advisor Renee Fleming, NSO artistic administrator Justin Ellis, and the entire NSO

Eric Adams pretty much agreed to sidestep NY sanctuary protections, & make his city's immigrant residents more vulnerable to iCE, in pursuit of naked personal gain & a shield from corruption charges.

An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government. DOGE is not a real government agency. DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions. DOGE has no authority to shut programs down or to ignore federal law. DOGE’s conduct cannot be allowed to stand.

An election denier has been confirmed as Attorney General of the United States.

This is a hostile takeover of the federal government by a private citizen of unlimited means with no restrictions and no transparency. Welcome to the Deep State www.reuters.com/world/us/mus...

this is a really smart piece by @ryanlcooper.com that frames the crash in terms of where the trump/musk administration will be taking us

"[A] democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is Fascism—ownership of Government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power." - FDR (1938)

A while back I asked folks why they’re joining Bluesky and the most common response I saw was, “I just want a good place to get my news” and, yall, no. Bad. GET YOUR NEWS FROM THE NEWS PBS Newshour is FREE FOR EVERYONE. youtu.be/PMOYN8JWdUk?...

This is not the Democrats' job and they have no power to do so. Republicans need to find qualified, rational people since they are in the majority. That obviously won't happen so all the Democrats can do is point out the errors these people make and try to defeat the GOP in 2026 in 2028.

If they were actively trying to start another pandemic, I'm not sure what they'd be doing differently.

Today’s anniversary of Roe v. Wade painfully reminds us that the Captured Supreme Court can (and will) shred the fundamental rights Americans have relied upon for decades.

Trump just literally eliminated an Executive Order to reduce the price of prescription drugs. They are ripping you off, personally. They never gave a shit about the price of anything.

Listen up.

It’s amazing to me that politicians don’t commit to post first on @bsky.app and to engage with constituents here THIS is more powerful than CNN , MSNBC, The Post will ever be. You can broadcast for 9 mins on a declining medium, or engage here and start a real discussion. Which is more powerful?

My one wish for the inauguration is that there is a gift bag under the seats of Bezos, Zuck, Elon etc, with a single, embroidered , padded knee pad Need to protect themselves when they are on bended knee, kissing the ring 🤷😆

“He took two organizations, arguably custom built for him, and he drove them into the ground so hard, both groups distanced themselves from him. That is the sum total of the man's career qualifications," says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on Pete Hegseth.

what are we doing here, people

x X has ~18m daily USA users. @bsky.app, ~1.5m. Is it worth 20 MINS a day to proactively recruit and bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, businesses, anyone who is or could be a user, to @bsky.app? If Bluesky ends up with more users than the others, you destabilize musk, zuck, trump.

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public. He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit. Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

CARTOON OF THE DAY (From @anntelnaes, formerly of the thin-skin billionaire-controlled @washingtonpost )

This Speaker vote should remind all of us that literally nothing Republicans try to do will be easy, or a foregone conclusion. And often, they are going to have to come to Democrats to enact anything at all. We have lost power but we are not powerless.

This level of wealth concentration is indefensible

🚨Per WASH POST — A.I. data centers like Elon’s here in MEMPHIS (which looks to pull 1 MILLION homes worth of power) are spiking prices and draining power so fast many Americans can’t even get electricity. Just as local folks have warned about. www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...

sesame street isn't supposed to make money. the post office isn't supposed to make money. not everything is supposed to MAKE MONEY

It’s a service, not a business. It’s not supposed to make a profit. And ending it would screw over red state rural areas the most. Hell, even private delivery services like UPS often rely on the post office to carry out the final leg of some deliveries there.

Health insurance industry PR is working overtime right now diverting blame to physicians for claim denials and rising costs. I feel compelled to remind everybody that Optum (UHC) is the largest employer of physicians in the US. We have never had less power in healthcare than we do right now.

Let's do this everywhere. www.publicnotice.co/p/wisconsin-...

RBG PAC’s $20M last-minute pro-Trump abortion campaign wasn’t just shady (and completely opposed by RBG’s surviving family members)—it was fully bankrolled by Elon Musk, new campaign finance reports show. Billionaire meddling in our elections must be stopped.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record. They run them bc people react to them the most. If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change. It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Today's 3-5pm EDT A Broad Spectrum broadcast on WFDU.FM HD2 includes Grammy nominations, Xmas music from Band of Other Brothers, Laila Biali and Matt Wilson's Christmas Tree-O, new releases from Josie Falbo, Jacqui Dankworth, Sivan Arbel plus a single from Lauren White, bday shoutouts & more.

Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act to:   💉 Cap the price of insulin for seniors at $35/mo 🌎 Take ambitious steps to reach our climate goals 💰 Hold wealthy tax cheats accountable   That’s what Republicans want to try to undo.

A failed president who incited a coup attempt and then was found liable of sexual assault and then was convicted of felonies won the popular vote and electoral college. I still haven’t seen a satisfactory explanation. Probably never will.

😳wild to see it all in one place like this. prospect.org/politics/202...

One of the likely paths that concern me is a cycle where more extreme and brutal acts by the administration results in more protests which result in more extreme and brutal suppression AND more right-wing private-but-endorsed violence, in a feedback loop.
