In a way I envy those who smartly dress their impotence as pragmatic jaded cynicism. Just as impotent, but much more naked, my soul screams to bridge the gap between what is and what should be.

"Things will get worse before they get better" is about perseverance, not apathy or inaction. It's not suggesting we should hope things get worse quickly so things will get better sooner. Better is not the inevitable consequence of worse. And worse is not payment toward or investment in better.
