Today I'm showcasing the beauty of Moths for #MacroMonday with this gorgeous Buff Ermine; Butterflies don't tend to be furry, but some moths are, just look at its fluffy cape!🤍 Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful new week🕊️ 📷 🌿 #Photography #Inverts #MothMonday #MothsMatter #UKWildlife #wildlife

A few years ago I used to see the Six-spot burnet regularly and the Forester I’ve only seen once, but a real beauty I’ve never forgotten. So this summer I’ll be Zygaenid hunting on the local common where they like to hang out. #MothMonday #teammoth

I saw my first butterfly of the year today - a newly emerged Brimstone flying over the river in Blaise Castle gorge in Bristol #butterflies

I went to visit "my" Green Hellebore, Helleborus viridis, again during the week. They are looking gorgeous. 😍 #Wildflowerhour

A fabulous #WildflowerHour tonight! Isn’t it wonderful to see all those signs of spring! It’s the last week to find #thewinter10, so if you’ve not found it yet, get your skates on! After next Sunday the weekly challenges will be back! 😃

I’ve opened the big dining room window. Sounds. The wind. Rooks. Robin song. Chatter of sparrows. Chronic tinnitus. Airliner overhead. Next door’s hanging doorbell in the gusts. Rattle of the window catch. Rattle of a magpie. Song thrush. Skylark. A fly-past of finches. A pheasant hiccoughing.

Any ideas for simple sewing or knitting projects I could do to help me relax & unwind? I'm not up to reading but could do with a pleasant distraction.

Lie after lie has been told this week about how the Ukraine war started, from the Kremlin and the White House. Here's our News Agents video essay which explains the truth, and spells out why Trump clings so close to Putin and lives in his warped reality. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cufM...

Wyrdlings! Snow drops, daffodils, bluebells, oh my! This #WyrdWednesday, join us as we get ready for Spring with our upcoming topic: 🌸🌷Flower Power and Floral Folklore🌺🌹 We are slowly beginning to emerge from hibernation. See you then!

Wishing you a bright and beautiful #SundayYellow with daffodils and witchhazel seen in bloom this week. #DailyFlowers #positivity #joy #vitaminN #Lancashire

A selection of excellent, inventively made scarecrows I’ve photographed during walks in the British countryside.

Forever relevant in the age of social media. Thank you, Wendy Cope.

“Natural England seem to have ground to a halt with SSSI notification in recent years” Why? Because of a lack of resources and “regulation is a dirty word now” Great piece by @patrickbarkham.bsky.social with analysis & comments by @milesking.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/environment/...

#WildWebsWednesday with #mushrooms from the weekend, velvet shanks, turkey tails, King Arthur's cakes, scarlet elf cups all surrounding dog pelt lichen with its distinctive orange 'teeth'. #WebsWild #fungi #vitaminN

Its cold, grey and miserable outside but the snowdrops along our beech hedge are glorious.

Ah, this is hard. The world carries on as normal but I feel broken. I'm trying to keep going but when a family member is so ill it's difficult to find hope. It must be there. Time & the right treatment. More support eventually. I'm fortunate to have a supportive partner & the dogs are lifesavers.

Time lapse of Hair Ice forming on fallen dead twigs with the presence of the Exidiopsis effusa fungus. This ephemeral beauty appears from around midnight on frosty nights and soon fades as the sun rises. Buckfastleigh, Devon

#JoinMeOnMyWalk Such pretty colours multiplying now, hope they haven't peaked too soon with a cold snap due in the coming days. So good to see though on my lunch walk! 😍 #Lancashire @photohour.bsky.social #positivity #joy #vitaminN

Green-winged Orchid (Anacamptis morio). In the UK it flowers in April and May. Base colour and markings are highly variable - but always with the distinctive green veins in the 'wings'. Normally seen as single flower spikes, it can also form small clumps. Here are some of my favourite 'flavours'.
