It is good to see that CBC News articles contain corrections to even the most trivial errors related to the Simpsons.

For the first time since 1963, it is now legal to swear in bars and pubs in New Brunswick. Coincidentally, it is also game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Please govern yourself accordingly but do not be boisterous nor disorderly. #nbpoli #cdnlaw

Practitioner's note: unless there is a specific non confidence motion in the amendment to the Address in Reply to the Speech from the Throne, it isn't an automatic confidence vote. The address is simply a message to the Crown. If the address is defeated, no message to the King. #cdnpoli #cdnlaw

Pleased that the Assembly amended Bill 17 in committee so soon New Brunswickers will be able to legally swear in Pubs or anywhere else that serves liquor so long as their conduct is neither disorderly nor boisterous. #nbpoli #cdnlaw

Today May 15, the return of the writ for Battle River—Crowfoot is published in the Canada Gazette. This starts the 30 day clock after which Damien Kurek can resign his seat on June 14. For a discussion on the law when an MP can resign, read below #cdnlaw lyleskinner.substack.com/p/when-can-a...

Folks looking for more information for contested federal elections & irregularities should read Opitz v. Wrzesnewskyj. A discussion of the "Magic Number Test" on whether irregularities are sufficient to annul an election. decisions.scc-csc.ca/scc-csc/scc-...

General reminder that Ministers of State are not part of the Cabinet but are part of the Canadian Ministry.

Had there been a tie, it would have triggered an automatic by-election with no 11 day delay in issuing a writ of election. Historically in the event of a tie, the returning officer was entitled to vote to break the tie. (That would have been an unenviable duty) #cdnpoli #cdnlaw

The return of some writs of Election are published in the May 9th edition of the Canada Gazette. Battle River—Crowfoot is not included meaning the 30 day clock has not started as to when Damien Kurek can resign as an MP per 27(2) of the Parliament of Canada Act #cdnpoli

Bill 35 Status of the Artist Act contains drafting / grammar errors in the English version of the text. Ex: “artist’s association” uses the singular possessive Plural possessive "artists' association" is the correct term. Error occurs 12 times in the bill. #nbpoli #cdnlaw

Pleased that the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly is amending Bill 6 to fix the drafting errors I identified. This ensures that bringing liquor from other provinces isn't accidentally banned when the bill becomes law #nbpoli #cdnpoli open.substack.com/pub/lyleskin...

When can a by-election to return Pierre Poilievre to the House of Commons occur? It is later than you think. #cdnpoli #cdnlaw open.substack.com/pub/lyleskin...

Stornoway: Section 3 of the Official Residences Act allows the person holding the recognized position of Leader of the Opposition in the House of Commons to live there. This requires having a seat in the Commons. #cdnpoli #Stornoway

The Leader of the Opposition is a Parliamentary Office where the individual must hold a seat in the Commons. Contrast with the office of Prime Minister which is appointed by the Crown and there is only a constitutional convention that they have a seat in Parliament. #cdnpoli

So who will be the next Speaker of the House of Commons? #cdnpoli

The first Bloc seat for the Atlantic! (time zone) #cdnpoli

I enjoy the continuous Brian Gallant analysis on Radio Canada #cdnpoli #nbpoli

I will enjoy the next hour or so of Canadian electoral coverage where it will focus almost exclusively on Atlantic Canada #cdnpoli
