Practitioner's note: unless there is a specific non confidence motion in the amendment to the Address in Reply to the Speech from the Throne, it isn't an automatic confidence vote. The address is simply a message to the Crown. If the address is defeated, no message to the King. #cdnpoli #cdnlaw

Had there been a tie, it would have triggered an automatic by-election with no 11 day delay in issuing a writ of election. Historically in the event of a tie, the returning officer was entitled to vote to break the tie. (That would have been an unenviable duty) #cdnpoli #cdnlaw

Bill 35 Status of the Artist Act contains drafting / grammar errors in the English version of the text. Ex: “artist’s association” uses the singular possessive Plural possessive "artists' association" is the correct term. Error occurs 12 times in the bill. #nbpoli #cdnlaw

The Leader of the Opposition is a Parliamentary Office where the individual must hold a seat in the Commons. Contrast with the office of Prime Minister which is appointed by the Crown and there is only a constitutional convention that they have a seat in Parliament. #cdnpoli
