🤦🏻‍♀️ but also, well played, sir. Well played

Got home about an hour ago and now attempting to decompress. Probably no rest for the wicked before I head to Birmingham as there’s more than a few unexpected bits of work to take care of in my <checks calendar> two days at home

Not that developers tend to take much notice of the law anyway if there’s something in their way, but this is wrong. Cut VAT on refurbishing old properties so building new is less attractive

What Ben said!

On the penultimate leg of my journey home from Chaosium Con UK. Stopped off in London for a few hours to have lunch with a friend, and now trying not to fall asleep as we hurtle through the countryside in a northerly direction

I laughed so hard during this evening’s improv Call of Cthulhu game with the lovely Miskatonic Playhouse people that I cried and my ribs hurt. Ah, so much fun!

Smashing Rivers of London VIP game this morning. The players were wonderful and I laughed a lot. The Call of Cthulhu panel was followed by lots of chatting to happy gamers, then rounded the day off by watching Mike Mason run a game for the Miskatonic Playhouse

Daily Covid test on and brewing. Something was upsetting the local corvid population at about 5 am. Hopefully not the little robot lawn mowers

Lovely first day of Chaosium Con UK. Lots of catching up with people, a lovely panel with Helena Nash and Paul Baldowski on writing for the Rivers RPG, a BBQ, and the Waters of Leith actual live play thingy with the Miskatonic Playhouse folks. All great fun!

Up and at ‘em for official day one of Chaosium Con UK. Not great that I’m already losing my voice!

Very long day travelling to Chaosium Con Uk and hanging out with lovely people. Tired, content, and still full of masaman curry

Finally on the train to London on the first leg of the journey to Chaosium Con UK. This train is running 15 minutes late, so I feel vindicated in buying an open ticket for the next leg of the journey

On the wrong side of Durham station waiting for the wrong Costa to open because I don’t like the travel cup selection on the right side of the tracks. My train may or may not be late because of a points failure between here and Edinburgh

It’s that time of the morning again. At least it’s nearly light at stupid o’clock now

Realised that I was running short of FFP2 and FFP3 masks as I was packing tonight. Trying to obtain anything that isn’t black or white is increasingly difficult. Still, managed to get some colourful ones, which should arrive in time for UKGE

And that's all but 2 pages of this month's printer allowance used up on the day it refreshed, and all in the space of <checks watch> about 10 minutes. Good job I have a good wodge of rollover pages left.

No, you're attempting to finish an editing pass on a scenario the day before you leave for a convention in case you can't run the one you have planned. One day I will stop doing this to myself. But today is not that day!

Toiletries and other bits and bobs located for the trip to Chaosium Con UK. I’ll pack tomorrow night, but it’s nice to know where most things are before we get to that point!

In today’s instalment of “It’s a Small World,” one of the ladies at yesterday’s embroidery workshop is a gamer. Today, I found out that she owns a copy of Cogs, Cakes & Swordsticks, my steampunk game, from way back when 🙂

I'll also be at UK Games Expo (30th May - 1st June), as will my Chaosium colleagues and @benaaronovitch.bsky.social. Here's our signing timetable:

It's Chaosium Con UK at Cranfield this weekend coming, and I'll be there supporting Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game. @benaaronovitch.bsky.social will also be dropping in there on Saturday 24th May to hang out and sign stuff

Lovely day down in Marske teaching blackwork to some of the ladies I gave the talk to a couple of weeks ago. The weather was grotty so I didn’t go down to the sea front. The ladies did really well and produced some lovely pieces

Marks & Spencer have joined the ranks of shops, like Roman Originals, who want fat women’s money but don’t want the shame of us being in their actual stores. Want anything above a 20/22? Online only. Bit of a problem when online doesn’t currently exist for M&S

Editing today, hopefully. Whenever I make a declaration like that, my inbox and everything else has a habit of mugging me, so keep your fingers crossed for me

Have to pop back to the opticians this morning as my new glasses are a bit snug. Otherwise, they’re very nice and jazzy

Hello darkness, my old friend, it’s stupid o’clock once again…

Busy day proofing maps and having meetings. So much to cram in before my insane convention and workshops month takes hold

Thoroughly enjoyed Thunderbolts*. It wasn’t perfect but it was funny and heartfelt, and there were some fantastic performances- particularly Florence Pugh and David Harbour

Eight years ago? Blimey. Go on, watch it again. You deserve a moment of pure joy today.

Here’s what’s new from the Companions of Arthur, our publishing program for independent Pendragon RPG creators at @drivethrurpg.com!

As part of my whirlwind summer convention tour, I'm a guest at Cymera 2025 in Edinburgh on Saturday 7th June and Sunday 8th June. There's lots of other lovely and cool stuff there besides me, so if you're in the area, it would be lovely to see you!

Just found out that Free RPG Day this year clashes with a prior speaking engagement (a talk about the history of that most hardworking embroidery technique, canvaswork). It’s been a long time since I didn’t run something for Free RPG Day, pandemic not withstanding
