Today is set to be an historic day: the decriminalisation of abortion in England and Wales. No more women questioned and criminalised for exercising our human right to bodily integrity.

The same people demanding you present a photo ID to vote are perfectly fine with letting you be arrested, handcuffed & thrown into a van by armed men wearing plain clothes, face masks & presenting no identification of any sort.

I don’t want to lose track of the fact that a lawyer for the Department of Justice went into court and argued that the President has the ability to call up any state national guard in the country for any reason, claim that it’s necessary to enforce the law, and no judge can second-guess him

This is not normal. A sitting president refusing to call the governor of a state after two elected officials were shot, one fatally, is beyond words. A typical president, regardless of politics, would pick up the phone. Offer condolences.

Spray paint a Tesla: domestic terrorism Targeted political assassination spree: not terrorism

"The normalization of the routine and open-ended deployment of the military at home requires that the public become accustomed to this departure from historic practice. But the departure has been announced. The Rubicon has been crossed."

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."  -Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953

My favorite T. Roosevelt quote, from 3 years before he signed the Antiquities Act: "Leave it as it is. You can not improve on it. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it. What you can do is to keep it for your children, your children's children, and for all who come after you..."

A Justice Department legal opinion released Tuesday disavowed a 1938 determination that monuments created by previous presidents under the Antiquities Act can't be revoked.

The Russian propaganda farms are now targeting Gavin Newsom. Says a lot.

Gavin Newsom - If some of us can be snatched off the streets without a warrant, based only on suspicion or skin color, then none of us are safe. Authoritarian regimes begin by targeting people who are least able to defend themselves. #cdnpoli

Donald Trump deployed more than 700 active U.S. Marines — men and women trained in foreign combat, not domestic law enforcement. We honor their service and bravery. But we do not want our streets militarized by our own Armed Forces. Not in L.A. Not in California. Not anywhere.

US media is mostly captured by the regime, they'll go on about a Waymo on fire and pretend there are riots, when it is the police and ICE escalating by attacking / kidnapping people. Meanwhile Trump is trying to sell everyone's data to Palantir in the background.

I'm looking forward to having a conversation with @hcrichardson.bsky.social over on Substack later today. Tune in live at 2pm ET.

This is the way to stand up to these bullies! Respect ✊

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

The craziest thing about this fight between Trump and Elon Musk is that Republicans are trying to take away health care from 16 million people to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.

Brave US citizens confronted heavily armed ICE storm troopers in Minneapolis, the Trump forces disguised themselves as other agencies as they conducted an ethnic cleansing raid in a local neighbourhood

On this day in 1863, Harriet Tubman's forces freed more than 700 slaves in a raid of South Carolina plantations . mississippitoday.org/2025/06/02/o...

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈

If Joe Biden posted something like this Hannity would be roused from his sleep to anchor special coverage. But Trump posts apeshit conspiracy theories and the mainstream press yawns. His craziness has been completely normalized.

You’ve heard of elf on a shelf. Time for A-hole in a K-hole.

A year ago today, a jury of everyday New Yorkers concluded Donald Trump was a criminal. They looked at the evidence, pondered for a while, & reasoned that he — without a doubt — faked documents to hide a sexual affair from voters in 2016. I was in the courtroom then. He's in the White House now.

This is phenomenal. Sea surface temperatures are >5C above average to the west of the UK and around Iceland. It's the strongest area of anomalous warmth on the planet at the moment. It's the warmest in recorded history for northwest Europe.

This is what an authoritarian regime would do. Hidden deep in Trump’s 1,100-page bill that passed the House today is a provision that would block federal courts from enforcing contempt charges against government officials who violate court orders.

Must-read 🧵 on how the Trump admin is trying to neuter the courts with one line in the Save act that doesn’t belong there. They would forever have no accountability if this bill passes with that provision in it.

Just reposting this which I think is the most gorgeous thing I have seen in my career - a critically endangered orange-bellied parrot feeding on a carpet of daisies after an ecological burn. This was the first time they’d had the chance to feed naturally in 15y and was wonderful to witness 😭😭😭🧡🧡🧡🧡

this is a letter to the editor from a high school track runner who came in second to a trans girl in a race. her state house rep in maine started talking about it. so she wrote this: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/14/r...

The Trump admin is fast-tracking a uranium mine in Utah by slashing the permitting process to 14 days, bypassing environmental review and cutting the public out entirely. Projects like this are supposed to go through NEPA, the law that requires environmental impact assessments and public comment.

Just curious, what’s the tariff on a $400 million jet from Qatar?

It's 2015. President Barack Obama has accepted a "sky palace" jumbo jet from the Qatari government, which he'll own after he leaves office. "Everybody relax," he says in an interview with the New York Times. Everyone does. The networks then televise the military parade in his honor on his birthday.

“Beware: All too often, We say What we hear others say. We think What we’re told that we think. We see What we’re permitted to see. Worse! We see what we’re told that we see. Repetition and pride are the keys to this. To hear and to see Even an obvious lie Again…”

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.
