Musk gives all federal workers 48 hours to explain what they did last week The deadline to reply is Monday at 11:59 p.m., although the email did not include Musk’s social media threat about those who fail to respond.

Federal employees have staged protests outside the federal buildings that Mr. Musk’s aides have penetrated and joined federal worker unions in droves. They have sent emails to hundreds of colleagues, blasting the new administration at the risk of their own livelihoods and careers.

Been on this DOJ beat for a minute now. Can’t recall any other presser where line agents in raid jackets just stood in the background for the cameras. You’d see leadership figures in suits, and they’d typically have speaking roles. Agents just standing there in jackets like background actors is new.
