My short story, “My Mother’s Way,” has been accepted for publication!

It’s always a good day when I get to have an ice-cold Irn Bru and a bag of Monster Munch for my afternoon snack.

No time to explain. Get in.

If you ever wanted to know what Hell is like, try writing a query letter for a novel.

New post on my blog. It’s one of my earliest published short stories. writingscreams.blog/2025/03/08/l...

Sent another short story submission off tonight. Thoughts/prayers/good vibes/crossed fingers appreciated.

My poem—Very, Very Hungry—has been accepted for publication on the blog of Burial Books!

Had a good day. Got some writing and reading done, finally watched Strange Darling (excellent neo-noir thriller), had some excellent fish and chips for supper, and am now enjoying a pint in a quiet corner of my favorite tap room.

My short story, “A Monster Did It,” which I’ve been trying to get published for YEARS, will be in this year’s anthology from Sley House. @sleyhouseeditor.bsky.social

A new post on my blog. writingscreams.blog/2025/02/17/a...

I had to write about myself for a writer’s group I’m in. It was an interesting exercise. It reminded me how far I’ve come and that I need to get in touch with some friends and mentors.

David Howard Thornton is this generation’s Andy Serkis. #davidhowardthornton #arttheclown #terrifier #terrifier3

My poem, The Bright Sword, has been accepted for my local literary magazine.

If P*rnHub published fiction, I’d send them a story.

So who is watching the Netflix debut of WWE Raw tonight? #Netflix #WWE

I did not start 2025 out the way I wanted to. I got nothing accomplished today. Just a lot of laziness. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Nosferatu is a beautiful and haunting film that, despite leaning heavily on well-established vampire ropes, feels like an original take on vampire myths. It’s not Robert Eggers’s best movie (that would be The Witch), but it’s still a master class in horror.

No, really, I’m going to start working on my next book in the New Year. Oh, that’s the day after tomorrow, you say? Hmmm…

ME, LAST NIGHT: I think I’m going to take a break from WoW tomorrow. ME, THIS MORNING: I think I’ll play some WoW today.

There may come a day when I grow tired of watching the Superman trailer, but today is not that day.

I’ve watched the trailer for Superman seven times today. That is all. That’s the post.

Getting back into World of Warcraft and my wife is considering it as well. She still has her Wrath of the Lich King collector’s edition. Impressive.

The original Mountain Dew Game Fuel is back on the market. This is not a drill.

Sorry, I can’t sleep tonight. I have to play more Balatro.

#StartingOffWrite Keep researching witchcraft, witchcraft trials, and the surrounding culture.

#StartingOffWrite Resetting by reading or playing a game. My best ideas come when I’m engaged with other media.

#StartingOffWrite Consume massive quantities of caffeine.

#StartingOffWrite My immediate inspirations are Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and The Witcher books and video games.

#StartingOffWrite When a heinous murder happens in a town in 17th century Scotland, there’s talk of witchcraft. The reality is far darker, but the town will have to go through a living Hell to find it out.

#StartingOffWrite I’m Brandon and I write horror, fantasy, and westerns. I plan on doing a 50k novel.

Why is Magic: The Gathering an awesome game? Because after Aragorn, son of Arathorn, falls in battle, I can pick up Anduril and hand it to a possum and say “Go hit that person with this.”

Astro Bot may be a perfect video game.

The bad news is that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a disappointment. The good news is that it’s on Game Pass.

Space Marine II did not end up being fun after the initial thrill of the visceral combat wore off. Got boring and repetitive real quick.

My poem “Heart. Ache.” has been accepted for publication in an upcoming anthology from Graveside Press. @gravesidepress.bsky.social

I wish Marvel Rivals had a co-op mode. The mechanics look fun but I don’t like competitive shooters.

Having a book accepted for publication really makes you feel like a real author. I suppose I should actually start working on another novel. I have an idea for one based around the Salem Witch Trials.
