Proteomics Market Size Worth USD 90.83 Billion by 2034 | CAGR: 12.7% The global proteomics market is witnessing remarkable growth as breakthroughs in life sciences and biomedical research continue to accelerate. The market, valued at USD 27.54 billion in 2024, is expected to rise to USD 30.97…

Huge congratulations to @chrismcgann.bsky.social who passed his PhD dissertation defense yesterday with flying colors!! Dr. McGann was the lab’s first PhD student and now first graduate! So excited and proud of all of the things he’s accomplished!

Excited to see this published! It is a good step in the process for people to assess their FDR control in proteomics experiments. Great work from @bo-wen.bsky.social and @urikeich.bsky.social in particular who drove this.

RIP Alan Marshall, one of the greatest mass spectrometrists ever, and a great human to boot. nationalmaglab.org/careers/meet...

My Canadian university, Queen's, is offering TWENTY 4-year funded PhDs (40k CAD/yr) for a student of ANY citizenship who has been accepted at a top 100 US university but have had offer rescinded OR are reconsidering offer due to US policy. Details found here👇 www.queensu.ca/grad-postdoc...

As an instrument designer/developer, I'm very impressed with the talk from @maccoss.bsky.social at #asms2025 (MOG 2:30PM). I highly recommend it for anyone who is really interested in thinking about the gritty details of how well ions are being utilized (or not) in modern instruments.

I personally know 5 early career and trainee level academic scientists who have changed jobs/ career paths in the last month. They did not see a sustainable future with ongoing cuts and attacks. The scale of decimation of the pipeline that the scientific workforce in U.S. faces is staggering.

#ASMS2025 started off with a bang from the Baker Lab with Emily talking in the Skyline Users Meeting about her LC-IMS-MS antidepressant library, and Haley presenting at the Agilent Users Meeting about lipid perturbations caused by wildfire smoke inhalation! We are so proud! 👯‍♀️💖

New Preprint ... This was a bit different of a project than what we normally do for hardware comparisons. I think there is a lot of potential in the methods mentioned here for calibrating the instrument response to a common scale. Nice work by @chrhsu.bsky.social! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Today's XKCD comic receives douze points from the mass spec jury (and popular vote, I am sure):

Deadline extended until 30th May. Now, very last days to register! #proteomics #massspecteam

If people of means are interested in establishing a 2025 “Institute for Advanced Study” for displaced/defunded biomedical scientists, I know many people who will help, including myself. @mcuban.bsky.social @arcadiascience.com @arcinstitute.org

Interesting case of AL-amyloidosis, kappa type. IF showed clear kappa restriction(pictured); amyloid A IHC was very strong but mass spec confirmed AL-k amyloid (patient has a k-plasma cell dyscrasia). Never seen so much non-specific AA staining before. Mass spec FTW. #renalpath #pathsky #nephsky

It is always great to see others building on your work. Really excited to see other preprints coming out using MagNet. It is hard to come up with an alternative performance wise at a similar cost.

Data Independent Acquisition to Inform the Development of Targeted Proteomics Assays Using a Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer #JProteomeRes pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

This is the way we recommend everyone make targeted proteomics assays. We've been doing it this way for 6-7 years now but only recently got around to putting a manuscript together. We use it for everything from SRM to PRM. Great work by @deannaplubell.bsky.social

Attending #ASMS2025 in Baltimore? Interested in quantitative proteomics? Join us Sunday Afternoon, June 1st for our annual Skyline User Group Meeting. We have a fantastic group of speakers. For information and to Register: skyline.ms/project/home... #massspectrometry #proteomics #metabolomics

A few days ago, President Trump issued an executive order seeking to block all federal funding to NPR, the latest in a series of threats to media organizations across the country.
