I oppose The Purge

if you never saw ROC, this is my yearly encouragement that you should seek out and find it wherever you can (and i should, too)

It seems to me that Dems need to amass as much knowledge they can about how the government is being corrupted and vandalized, and then use that knowledge to rebuild as quickly as possible once in power. Should have nothing to do with the pissing match between the groups and the popularists.

NYT can't seem to muster the will to say that it's Marco Rubio's fault that Marco Rubio did what Marco Rubio did.

This is absurd. @nytimes.com needs to find a better way to convey to readers what it knows to be true: These "findings" are not actual "findings" in any sense that most people would understand the word. The casual reader comes away with zero sense of the deep rot of bad faith at play here.

A particularly enraging aspect of this is that conservatives, abetted by centrists, have managed to move the discourse window such that if you describe this as what it obviously is - a nakedly racist campaign to make the US a much whiter nation - suddenly you're a scold who's obsessed with identity.

I mean, relatable, but that's why I don't stand for national office where I'll be directly responsible for the lives of tens of millions of people.

It’s the day after tomorrow. You’ve just called in sick to work and finished breakfast. It’s 8:57 am. Which do you start first: OLD GUARD 2 or HEADS OF STATE?

More and more liberals and leftists I know are talking about buying guns, but y’all… if the civil war comes I’m just gonna die. I’ve made my peace with it. If I buy a gun I’m gonna shoot myself in the dick taking it out of the box. (Do they come in boxes?)

People who spent this week shit-talking Mamdani while this monstrosity of a bill advanced are telling us pretty clearly who they are.

Watched ALL THAT JAZZ for the first time in years. Still my favorite 8 1/2 remake.

if you're a politician based in new york city, trump saying he'll withhold federal funding from the city if mamdani is elected is far more important than any other bad faith question you are asked about mamdani and it's the only thing you should be addressing.

It’s definitely looking like the most extreme test of how much Republican voters are willing to suffer before admitting they were wrong. I genuinely have no idea how it will come out.

An amazing set of headlines on the homepage of the New York Times: Trump Bill adds to massively to debt, throws millions off of their insurance, destroys green energy, and Tillis is stepping down because of Trump's threats.

Jeffries did an entire media hit to dump vile IsIamophobic slander on the party's own candidate for NYC mayor. the DSCC chair was on NPR to do the same! like, the entire NY Democratic Party, most of whom endorsed a corrupt sex offender who turned the state government over to Rs, is driving this.

Reboot Seaquest DSV… and make it extra horny

We cannot let this man become mayor

The Act Of Illing

Voting to kill people and shaking my head the whole time so the people I represent know I disagree with it

Blown away - but very appreciative - that the NYT did this: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/27/t...

I gotta tell ya, it’s been a while since I’ve seen an audience quite this invested in the plot of a Broadway play. Never seen a standing ovation for a *plot point* before (only about half a dozen people, but they were standing).

bout to get my Jean Smart on

My wife can talk on the phone while running on the elliptical, with is something I shouldn't be in awe of but that's where I am physically.

I've said this before and will I guess just keep saying it, but: It has been literally easier for me to sell multiple novels and break into writing for TV on an Emmy-nominated show than to sell one (1) piece about trans issues to a major publication.

Just heard a podcast ad for the new Dexter show about Dexter going to New York with the VO copy “In a city full of monsters, my dark urges will feel right at home.” In a lot of ways pop culture still hasn’t updated its understanding of NYC since Taxi Driver.

The message for any person running as a Democrat in 2026-28, boiling down whatever policies or positions they may hold, should be this: “I’m not gonna let them get away with it”

I understand why op-eds would be subject to *different,* possibly even less stringent editorial standards than straight news articles, but not why they're apparently subject to *no standards at all.*

This is the line from the horrific SCOTUS decision today that will stick with me. “Sure, the president should follow the law - but the courts can’t force him to do it.” Rendering the Constitution a dead letter if the president decides he’d rather not deal with it.

There is probably no greater joy in life than being 12 when the first Naked Gun came out.

124 hours until I can watch HEADS OF STATE

Starting to think the NYT’s “Douthat Interviews Malevolent Nutjobs” series is an op designed to make the interviewer look palatable in contrast to his subjects.

Apologies for the TMI - I try not to post like this too much - but I can pinpoint the moment I knew I was straight to a particular shot in this video. So I guess - thanks, Diane Keaton?
