#askanauthor Reclaiming ancient female consciousness from the shadows of history: The worth of a soul & of ‘us’, immanence vs transcendence ie. Being in and of the Earth as well as heaven. By connecting this #divinefeminine to today’s overarching masculine energy we become creators & creation both.

Delighted to see my collection The Horse And The Girl featured on the CLMP List www.clmp.org/news/books-l...

#askanauthor Being outdoors, getting outside myself, being of service. The writing will come - as a former journalist I can deliver - but the more I am able to be my authentic self the better it is.

Charlotte Baker, crime blogger extraordinaire, shares early history around this hugely important literary genre, by giving us an an insight into the lives of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. pentoprint.org/write-on-fea... #writingcommunity #amreading #fridaymotivation #fridaythoughts

#askanauthor Though outwardly confident and a good public speaker, I am very much an introvert.

In her February Thursday Connectors Farzana Hakim celebrates love in all its forms. Poems from me from the Horse And The Girl &Afsana Elanko re #worldcancerday + a traditional love story from Lisa Scully O’Grady. Fabulous! pentoprint.org/thursday-con... #thursdaythoughts #writingcommunity

There is a reason some of the greatest writers were alcoholics. It helps cut through the fear, makes us less afraid… But , though ‘alcohol gives you the wings to fly’ In the end ‘it takes away the sky.’ At nearly 13 years without a drink, I’m only just starting to discover the beauty of that sky.

Poetry: a superhighway unleashing #midlifevoices bit.ly/416GhTI #Poetry has the power to heal,to reveal &connect to the place deep within we've sidelined. In preparation for my workshop,my feature links physical wiring, emotional wisdom &spiritual hunger #divinefeminine @seacrowpress.bsky.social

In her third February Showcase Vrushali Khadilkar shares work with a more spiritual slant: the silent power of transformation, raw survival + freedom, linked to a perspective of home &sanctuary. pentoprint.org/showcase-win... #writingcommunity #wednesdaymotivation #writerwednesday #Iamwriting

#askanauthor In my 1st novel research took me up many blind alleyways. But there’s also something instinctive re following it to create amazing narrative direction. In novel ‘No One’ I sourced prophetic Welsh poetry from 6thC connected to Sandwich, where I’m from. Using GoogleT for meaning I rewrote.

#askanauthor Nature, meditation, doing other things and ultimately trust that all will be well. Once I’ve battled the sense of it not being worth it, my own inadequacy and rediscover my trust in my work I’m generally able to keep going. The two attached readings are saved in favourites and they help.

#askanauthor Looking for a #litagent for my embedded narrative #litfic ‘No One’ set in #Wales. Stories going from 500AD to now. I suspect, though it is about the #mystical #spiritual feminine, because there is a #celtic #christian element I might need to look in US. Any advice?

#askanauthor Knowing that I don’t really have a choice about what I write -even if potentially uncommercial- and that for it to gain a life of its own I’ll need to give a piece of my soul +100s hours of work. Understanding the inevitability of rejection after rejection &yet needing to do it anyway

#askanauthor I’ve gone down trad pub route for both poetry and novels as to me it offers best reach. But based on interviews we’ve shared through Write On! self-publishing works too. My sense though, is that it’s success is very much personal network and genre dependent -crime, romance, SFF etc.

‘No One’ weaves in poetry, nature &ancient mysticism &modern faith. Set against the bardic heritage of Wales,  the focus is Non, St David’s mother, who slips &ripples through time. #askanauthor my work is closely linked to the divine feminine. This C16th painting by Salvodo is in the NAG &my desktop. The Magdalene (my namesake) is 1st to encounter the resurrected Christ. Noone believes her but in the truth of that moment she wraps the silver cloak of spirit around her.She knows.

#AskAnAuthor day 10 I don’t think I have anything 5 years or less besides video game remakes 😅😅 My story was heavily inspired by video games. The two comps I’ve been clinging to are The Lunar Chronicles and Final Fantasy 7 (especially Rebirth)… Though Tales of Symphonia is probably better.

#askanauthor All of it! Though the conversations are imaginary they are based on truth. He threw back his head rearing up for the filly who’d come to the fence to watch him being silly “Take the Girl by the hand, lead her through the gate you might feel a bit older but it’s never too late!”

#askanauthor The puddle, being something both the the Horse and the Girl drink from on a hot day.. it doesn’t go to well for her! Last line, the Girl speaking ‘This week I know it’s been pretty chaotic But things are OK now I’ve got antibiotics’

#askan author The story of Duchess, Dee - annoys horse who will eventually end up being euthanised. The attached image the poem which is at the pint things are ending. #poetrycommunity #ecopoetry

Must read feature. From Barking and Dagenham to the mountains. Says Viv about her book: “The whole thing took on its own life. I'd embarked upon another journey and the fact that most of the script was unknown was wonderful. I was back in my world of mountains!“ #writingcommunity #adventurewriting

#askanauthor The Horse And The Girl is set in the disappearing wildernesses of Kent’s coastal landscape. The immediacy of each moment, nature’s breath allowing me to breathe because I can feel it for the first time from the back of my horse, makes it being built on and destroyed even more poignant.

#askanauthor Braver I’ve come through displacement &trauma in childhood, to surviving the resulting demons as an adult. Life now is rich &productive, though I often feel inadequate. I’ve only just started accepting I’ve been brave &hope to be braver still, through writing & as Write On!’s Editor

Do join me! Following the fab launch event of the Horse And The Girl last night, I know there is huge appetite for us women in midlife to find and share our voices through poetry! Incl. opp. to submit to an anthology for those who wish to #poetrycommunity writersandartists.co.uk/events-and-c...
