In popular culture, menopause is typically associated with hot flushes. In our Menopause: What's Changed? exhibition, we invite visitors to drop a pebble if they experience any of these symptoms. And it turns out, hot flushes are much less common than brain fog or mood symptoms!

Huzzah! Totally agree of course, also celebrating a new Joan Aiken collection from @manderleypress.bsky.social as a perfect introduction to this extraordinary writer... www.joanaiken.com/books/tales-...

Today is the 50th Anniversary of the movie JAWS which was originally released on the 20th June 1975. #Jaws50 It's also your occasional reminder that Robert Shaw who played Quint in the movie, grew up and went to school in Stromness #Orkney where his father was the local doctor. 🦈

i can't see this and not share the song, but also you should watch the music video for these are the days of our lives, because it's the last queen music video that freddie filmed with his bandmates and the video for the show must go on is all repurposed clips from other queen videos

this is an actual sheep that existed. AI will never come close to creating a fleece like this

Aotearoa medical peeps: does any one know who can do a cast check? Does it have to be a nurse or doctor? Asking for a sibling who doesn't want to travel for a check tomorrow and is hoping the pharmacy can do it.

Right wingers be always hating nice things. Public holidays, spending time with your new family, fed children, good public transport so you can just sit back and be driven around and taken places, rest when you are sick, queer people not dying. It’s so unhinged. Get therapy and heal lol.

There's no food they haven't gentrified, offal, what we used to be cheap cuts of meat, canned corn beef, tins of tuna, these used to be things you could get cheap & make a nice meal with. There is nothing left. Sausages, even polonies are expensive now. Fucked if I know how people feed their kids

nonzero chance that neither the World Cup nor the 2028 Summer Olympics take place in the United States the way things are going

My 1st intro to Pleiades / Matariki: Maia comes down to earth to do a little Christmas shopping and buy toys for her sisters who can’t get away very often because they are “so busy making and storing up the Spring Rains.” Maia aka Waitī From 'Mary Poppins'.

Do enough people understand that Gheorghe Zamfir, Master of the Pan Flute has made a bunch of remarkable contributions to film scores across multiple genres? I took a close look at his film work and spoke to Zamfir, who remains a passionate pan flute advocate, via email.

Thanks to FB memories, I know it was 4 years since Mum fell on her way in to the hotel in Wellington... no breaks. (Bonus photo of Ginny.) So, 2 different housemates 4 years apart. Today, SibL.

#NewIllustrationOfTheDay by Helen Oxenbury from her illustrations to Alice in Wonderland which reinvented the heroine as a modern girl. Selected favourite Alice illustrators in the run-up to Alice day 5 July. @macmillankidsuk.bsky.social @thestorymuseum.bsky.social

Bruising and swelling coming out.

Never forget that #SesameStreet once did a sketch based on Ingmar Bergman's The Seventh Seal, which involved a Swedish fisherman counting seals until he found the seventh one.

Well... fuck. SibL slipped on our slippery deck this morning and has broken their wrist.

So, I've been 'hosting' another library's mascot for the past month. They went to the Auckland Writers Festival with me. I finally remembered to host a mihi whakatau for them.

I was going to make play dough this afternoon, but have decided to leave it until tomorrow morning, so we can warm our hands up kneading it.

I proclaim that everyone should have treats FOR MORALE! Treats shall continue until morale improves.

If you were after a Nature’s Cathedral shirt, they’re back up on the site. Limited numbers remaining in this run x I’ll do a proper post later but heads up :)

Looking at doorcount for yesterday and wondering why last year's equivalent day was over 175, when we're usually in the 80s or 90s (on a non-minecraft or craft club day) & we were closed to the public. Checks the calendar: oh, it was the day we had our workroom refitted after the renovations.

It was a good time for me to order, and get, an oodie.

If you are in Rotorua on the Saturday 28 or Sunday 29 June, pop into our quilt show. I would love to see you and talk about my art. There are some amazing quilts to see. My textile art works will be on display. It's our bi-annual fundraiser. #art #quilt 🧵🪡🧶🇳🇿 #nzl #reuse #recycle #textile #sew
