Phew. Today I wrapped up edits on an article and a chapter. (Don't be too impressed both were at ~96% when the day started.) I'm so grateful for a season of creativity and corresponding opportunities to share my work. From December to March, I'm presenting about every 2 weeks.

Editors: Can I cut subtitles to save words and still be "good" with CMS and SBL? (Please!)

Tomorrow!

Monday I am presenting "Relapsing, Reverting, or Rejecting? The Purpose of Hebrews and Early Judaism” at the Houston Theological Seminary Research Seminar. Feb 24 at 3:00 (CST). DM me for the link.

The first word of my current draft is Muad’Dib. 😅

This week I'm doing some work on my summer course for Regent College. I think it's going to be a lot of fun!

And no one asked, but the verse divisions in Hebrews 5:7–10 is utter nonsense at a syntactical level.

Translating Hebrews 5 today for my commentary as I transition to working on that chapter. I really enjoy this part of starting a new section and consistently open up my document and make little tweaks as I learn new things.

I have reached the point in writing this where my interlocutors receive a break from my opposition; now the enemy is "Past Madison" who left a host of placeholders ($) and malformed arguments for me to clean up.

As I have said before, Hebrews is *not* written to critique the Levitical sacrificial system. My first project for this semester’s research leave is a comprehensive critique of this idea. It’s been fun to write. 🤓

I love Taylor Swift, and I love analyzing scriptural allusions. So I wrote this. I hope you enjoy it! www.christianitytoday.com/2025/01/bibl...

Heard this morning that my article on Taylor Swift was the “most read” on Mockingbird this year! Thanks to them for being willing to host it. Writing was a really valuable experience, and I’m grateful it has resonated with so many. mbird.com/year-in-revi...

Submitted! This project has been a lot of fun, especially working with Ruth Anne. I'm eager for you to see it. (It will probably be released early 2026.)

Loved preaching alongside my dear friend, the Revd Dr Nathaniel Adishian, yesterday. ☺️

Yesterday I got news that something I've been praying for since 2017 finally has happened. Praise God. It is a glimpse of the true justice promised in Advent. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Ruth Anne Reese and I are finishing up our work on *The Later New Testament as Christian Scripture* this month. For the introduction, I narrate my theological identity in this way… 🧵

It’s been 7.5 years since I lived in the northeast of England, but I still greet every bartender with “Hiya.”
