Слава Україні!

Today is my first day back at work after almost two weeks. Last week we were on a cruise visiting Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Upon returning home on Saturday, I began to sneeze, and came down with the flu. Today was my first day back, and reentry was a bitch.

Stuff I make.

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other

On the needles: Irish Hiking Scarf (free pattern on Ravelry). Bad Sheep Yarn, colourway is Kennicot, superwash merino, worsted weight. This is some of the softest yarn I've ever knit with. Like knitting with clouds.

Finished object. Hat for AH. Periwinkle Sheep, Pumpkin Spice and Set in Stone. I think it came out really well, and I'm very happy with it.

About half way through the decreases on the crown. Coming into the home stretch. I need to decide if the top is going to be brown or blue. I kind of like the idea of finishing it off in brown, sort of like book ends.

Currently on the needles. Pumpkin Spice and Set in Stone, Periwinkle Sheep, superwash merino, worsted weight. I got this yarn in November, 2023 at the fibre festival in Springfield, MA. Love using stash yarns!

Cast on hat number 7. Periwinkle Sheep, superwash merino, colourway Roasted Pumpkin. Of the seven hats I've cast on, six have used yarn from my stash, and only one has been new yarn bought specifically for that project. Feeling good about stash busting.

Finished a hat for myself, a few days after our very frigid cold snap ended. Today is in the high 50s/low 60s, and I don't need a warm wooly cap. Cascade Eco Duo, undyed alpaca and wool. The yarn has since been discontinued, and it was in my stash since at least 2012.

The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus rolls on Saturday, 1 February. I'll be walking with the Death Star Steppers, in position 19. These are some of the throws I'm making. "We destroyed your planet! And we ain't sorry!"

The Crescent City has survived Sneauxmageddon. It's already starting to warm up and I reckon all the sneaux will be gone by the weekend.

On the needles: A hat for me. I've been making them for everyone else, and we might get snow in southern Louisiana next week. Snow! In Louisiana! How did it ever get in? Yarn is Cascade Eco-Duo (70% alpaca, 30% merino) is soft and splitty, but will make a warm hat. This yarn has been discontinued.

I like to order yarns from small indie dyers. I may or may not have ordered Esspresso and Kennicott from Bad Sheep Yarn. I ain't sayin'.

One of the museums I like best is the Palazzo Pitti in Florence. It houses my favourite Madonna, la Madonna della Seggiola, by Raffaello. What's one of your favourite museums?

Finished Object. Merino wool hat knit for my friend Crystal. This took 8 days to knit, though I did not work on it over the past weekend. Cast on 1/7/2025, Cast off 1/15/2025.

The decreases have begun! I love it when I do the decreases on a hat, see the shape of the crown emerge, and realise that there are fewer and fewer stitches every other round. This should be done by the end of the day today. Periwinkle Sheep superwash merino, colourway is Set in Stone, worsted.

Throws for the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus, rolling on 2 Februarty. These are supposed to be Chewbacca. Not sure if they read so. Do they need amouth?

Sometimes I'm too clever by half. We do not have central heat in our flat, so I had the brilliant idea to put up curtains between our living room and our front room. It makes the room much warmer and bearable during this cold snap. The cats like it better, too. On the needles, last row of ribbing.

When it comes to knitting caps, I'm usually one and done, and need to move on to something else. But I've done four touques in a row, and am on the fifth. I think it might be an ADHD hyperfocus. And my firm belief that everyone should have a warm head. Periwinkle Sheep, Set in Stone, cast on 1/7/24.

Just off the needles. Black wool touque for a friend who moved from Louisiana to Colorado. Reckon he might need it.

On the needles. I am making a hat for my friend Ben, who wears a lot of black. Not my favourite colour to knit in (my aged eyes have a hard time seeing the stitches), but we're on the decreases! Should be done today or tomorrow. Cascade 220 Superwash from my stash.

Listing authors of whom you have read five or more books. JRR Tolkien CS Lewis Alison Weir Ursula K. Le Guin Diane Ackerman Christopher Moore Robert Heinlein Andre Norton Anne McCaffery Rita Mae Brown Robert Rodi Michael Thomas Ford Armistead Maupin Robertson Davies

Do not disturb my beauty sleep, peasant! This eight pound baby rules our house with an iron murder mitten.

Spent my week off making throws for the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus. I'm in a Star Wars subkrewe, and these are my Princess Leia throws: hand painted wooden pegs, with cinnabons made from rolled pipe cleaners.

Well crap. I got to the lace row of my scarf and discovered I was short a stitch. I tinked back five rows and came up with the right number of stitches, finally! I think I may have knit too many K2Tog. In two minutes I reknit what had taken me an hour to tink back. Knitting be like that sometimes.

On the needles: A scarf in the Feather and Fan pattern. This is the easiest lace pattern I've ever done, and I think it is the fifth or sixth time I am knitting it.

We remember and we will not be moved.

There is no LGB without the T.

1984 and 2024.

On the needles now. Yarn is Louisiana Yarn Guys, worsted weight, colourway is Tiger Yellow, needles are US 7/4.5mm. This is the softest yarn I've ever knit with.

My babies!

Who runs the world? Cats!
