Anzac Day's coming up in Oz and Aotearoa New Zealand. There will be speeches about bravery, honour, sacrifice. A solemn day but beyond the ceremony it's a very sanitised version of war for public consumption. In this I just wanted to capture a little moment. The soldier returns, forever changed.

Pan's Labyrinth is one of my favourite movies. The magical world as seen through the eyes of a young girl combined with the harsh reality of a post-war Spain under fascism. The monsters that blighted regime created reflect the malevolent magical beings. Truly a masterpiece of cinema. (Daily pic, 68)
