The best scientific evidence is that the 2020 BLM protests helped defeat Trump in the election. These protests are likely doing the same. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

1,000 times YES! So disgusted by people quoting @adamkinzinger.bsky.social @lizcheney.bsky.social or @gtconway.bsky.social to me as though they’re not complicit in the rise of this

Yeah I guess LeBron putting up a 22.6 PER is pretty special, but it's not that impressive when you compare him to people rolling out of bed and firing off something like this at age 86.

“A 2010 study that analyzed 40 years of protest coverage in five major newspapers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, found that the papers depicted protests — even peaceful ones — as nuisances rather than as necessary functions of democracy.”

This is the MAGA version of Kendrick versus Drake except they're both Drake and both think they're Kendrick.

What of the smoldering husks of the countless departments and agencies both of these homicidal narcissists leave in their wake?

Correct. And they do this to Dems because there is less of a threat of retribution, less fear of physical harm. Biden’s cognitive state didn’t make us the pariah of the world. He had expertise around him. There is none now.

In dissenting from the Supreme Court’s disruption of half a million lives by the Trump administration, Ketanji Brown Jackson denounces the majority’s double standard of letting Donald Trump set immigration policy however he wants, and quickly, but not Joe Biden. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

It's often presented as a kind of conformity or groupthink to "trust the experts," but you do in fact need to do this to have a functioning society! What is the alternative? Every person researches every single issue of public concern themselves?

We love to see it.

“Public research universities …have turned to international students, who commonly pay full price for tuition, to help compensate for declines in state funding for education.” In a way, Trump’s attack on student visas is a new battlefront in an old war: the right’s crusade against public education.

this entire paragraph is Stephen Pinker openly saying, "I think race science is real and correct."

This. But for everything

i think it is bad that high level public officials do not respect the offices they hold or the public they are supposed to serve

i think it should be a bigger story that the president held a meeting with a foreign head of state where he ranted about the most gutter white supremacist propaganda you can find on the internet

Democracy requires some measure of buy-in into the idea that politics matters, public service is honorable (and to be honored by public servants), elected officials represent the people - fundamentally: that we are all part of the the game and the game deserves respect. It doesn't work like this.

given the overwhelming number of targets with the trump administration and the republican majority in congress, it is actually bonkers to think that democrats have anything to gain from litigating biden. let the guy disappear and focus on the stuff that is unpopular with voters!

@nytimes.com I don’t know what you thought you were doing here but there is a broad consensus TODAY. You are actively contributing to the possibility that unserious, broadly rejected arguments will be taken seriously.
