Just seen Farage and Truss (grifting over in the US) described as "the Slug and Lettuce".

It was wonderful. I haven't been to Bradford since visiting from Leeds where my two sisters were working as teachers 50 years ago. Beautifully made series. Congratulations to all involved. #Virdee

Is it just me or is Sir Marmaduke Wyvill of Low Burton Hall, 1st Baronet of Constable Burton (1542–1617) looking extremely bored? 'I've been lying here some four hundred years and I'm fed up of it now.' The monument situated in the Church of St Mary the Virgin Masham

He's very cute, though.

Sir, you are supposed to be helping me work on the copyedits for my debut novel, in which you make a cameo, but instead you are snoring. This is very rude. #AmWriting #AmEditing #WritingCommunity

Dun Troddan Broch, one of two unusually well-preserved Iron Age brochs that stand south-east of Glenelg in Lochaber. Like the other 500 or so brochs found mainly in the north and west of Scotland, it was built some 2,000 years ago. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot... #Scotland #Glenelg

A Qianlong cup and saucer, the decoration in imitation of European landscape and harbour scenes, such as Meissen (see last three examples, the Meissen 1730-40). The main painting reserved to the centre, confined within a circle with further decoration around the perimeter. Circa 1760-80.

A very great man.

He's peddling dangerous lies and utter rubbish at that. By its very nature, how could anyone know someone was praying privately in his/her own home?

Happy Birthday, Robert Burns! It's wonderful how he lives on in our hearts and imaginations.

BBC Radio 4 6-15pm this evening! 😍 #BurnsNight

I think this is my favourite quote from any book on #JMWTurner as it encapsulates the vast scope of the world in which Turner lived. So many changes, so many transformations. What an exciting time to live!. @FrannyMoyle has this biography of Turner spot on.
