London bus stop. #Swasticar

OTD in 2022 Hitchins made a genuine appeal for an authoritative statement about the *actual* size, *precise* location of the 100,000 troops alleged (lol) to be poised to invade. Cos no one had done this & it's possible CNN made this all up as part of a woke agenda.

Trumpaloompa

He means “Central London might have to become people can live *and* work rather than draining the life out of an area 50-100 miles wide five days a week to feed itself.”

Alas

just saw someone in the FT comments section referring to Tesla as the swasticar

From Goldman's lips to the UK Prime Minister's hips: 1. Goldman Sachs🧛🦑🌍 classes AI productivity in with PCs and electric motors but "highly uncertain" 2. IMF reports on the dangers of AI, quoting Goldman 3. UK quotes IMF that AI can increase productivity by 1.5% pivot-to-ai.com/2025/01/13/u...

hey quick question does Goliath win in that story

At your company, is your key issue collaborating on things that could be transactional, or trying to treat collaborative things transactionally? Or somewhere in between?

The primary reason I think a lot of business managers get excited AI writing code is because AI is never going to tell them they need to change their business processes, not the website.

Reckon it should be called “The National Programme for AI”, as it seems destined to go about as well as the last time the government got enthused by something it clearly doesn’t understand.

What worries me is not government use of AI per se but the slightly credulous way that the government talk about it, which makes me suspect they will be taken for rubes by the tech companies selling their services. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

On the one hand, the UK govt’s AI Opportunities Action Plan sounds somewhat utopian; on the other hand, the hand has six fingers and there are three of them per person.

The enshittification of TVs continues: arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025... Why, customers seem to hate our UI and immediately switch to their AppleTV/Roku/PS5 and run apps there. What can we do about this? I know, let’s remove the input selector from the remote!

'Stop saying I crashed the economy' says person who was responsible for crashing the economy.

“Arthur Dent: What happens if I press this button? Ford Prefect: I wouldn't- Arthur Dent: Oh. Ford Prefect: What happened? Arthur Dent: A sign lit up, saying 'Please do not press this button again.”

Microsoft Power Automate could be extremely useful. "Match regex in message and send to URL" ought to be easy as falling off a log. Instead it's one of the most frustrating, limited, painful things that make you want to throw it out a window. 👏 JUST 👏 GIVE 👏 ME 👏 SCRIPTING 👏

I see it's "please compensate me for my failure to keep abreast of my own financial circumstances" day.
