I worked in education over 20 years. There is misconception the US Dept. of Education’s role. e. g. They don’t define & implement curriculum. They do provide funding to states e.g. special education. There is a good article in Education Week dated 10/14/2024 a good explanation. Take a look.

Check out Pew Research “ What the data says about Federal workers” from Jan 2025 e.g. 80% work outside DC. There is also a May 2024 report to Congress from OMB. Only 10% work from home Full time. 54% are Full time at work sites. The rest are hybrid, 60% of the time at work site.
