Finally, I'm getting to this one. We had to read Adventures of Huck Finn in high school, and I hated, HATED, how Jim was treated in the book. But I love this new point of view. A great slow mornings read. James by Percival Everett #BlackBookSky #BookSky 💙📚

I need more sleep

Love to see it.

"AI take job" is not destiny. It is a deliberate choice - but the motivating factors are not productivity or profit (AI has only lost companies money while harming productivity and trust). AI-in-everything is a *performance* of innovation by CEOs for CEOs. productpicnic.beehiiv.com/p/the-ai-job...

I am so lucky to be married to my husband

Once upon a time, I was an independent bookseller. Support your local bookstores. Amazon doesn't care about local economies. Shop indie.

Portrait study in oil. This is the first time I was able to get a whole piece out in one sitting. Well, one day anyway.

I'm vibe coding a new website, and dare I say, this is kinda fun. However, I wonder how much water I'm using by being polite and inquisitive with AI

Why are the birds outside my bedroom window louder at 4am than 6am. Why!?

Or... I'm gonna age myself with this old photo... but some of yall would really love L.A. Banks' Vampire Huntress series. It's filled with gore, lore, politics, and smut! #BlackBookSky 💙📚 I met her when we hosted her for a signing at our bookstore, Azizi Books, before she passed. She was lovely.

Excellent movie. A masterpiece.

Rewatching Dark in German instead of the dub, and I'm watching a whole new show.

Ok so yeah, this has quickly become the #1 misunderstanding about the canceled grants the grants are not “subsidies” or “entitlements” to Harvard or Princeton or whatever they aren’t going into universities’ endowments they are competitive contracts won by these universities to do research

When folks started talking boycotts, it didn't feel like there was much faith that we could make a difference. That was wrong. Turns out there's nothing super special about shopping there, and it's easy to make other choices. I don't see why I should ever give them another dime. We moved on.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.: “Chaos is its own form of tariff. Who invests in a nation that can't have a set of dependable laws that people can count on?”

So I can look at my retirement accounts again?

Let's go!

And this is why my son is going to college. I don't care what the trendy opinion is on how "college isn't for everyone" or a "waste of money" or whatever. We know who they mean when they say "excess labor"

Rereading my trade paperback edition, circa 2000, to level set my head for the times #BookSky 💙📚 #BlackBooksky @ Sip&Savor Parable of the Talents By Octavia Butler

Ok Cory, we see you!

The root of all evil in the USA is our unwillingness to punish white collar criminals. This must change.

Pete Buttigieg breaks down DEI for everyday folks… “The opposite of diversity is uniformity. The opposite of equity is inequity. The opposite of inclusion is exclusion.” @petebuttigieg.bsky.social Our problem: too many value uniformity over inclusion and they’re the ones running the government. 🧵

Some of y'all would have been posting about abolitionist meetings and Underground Railroad stops on social media and calling it resistance, and VERY SOON (not today, but soon) we need to have a convo about actual signaling (not virtue signaling) and moving quietly while presenting otherwise.

Calling someone racist is treated as a character slur rather than a description of behavior And that’s part of why we’re here Because at this point you can’t even point out racist behavior without being attacked or having someone retreat So it’s used by abusers and grifters to shut down convos

We’re still not shopping at Target.

Yes, I would love it if we were all this close. But in a city vibe tho. I wanna stay a city girl with a little garden and backyard chickens.

Maturing is realizing that people who hurt you aren't always evil or malicious. Growing wiser is realizing that doesn't mean you are any less hurt or that they're any more capable of stopping from doing it again. Sometimes people who love you have to go because their very nature is harmful to you.
