A friend told me about International Intrigue the other day and I am loving it. www.internationalintrigue.io

Waking up on Rottnest Island.

Forgot to take a first day back to school pic this morning. Not for the first time.

Saturday morning peace.

Morning walk. It was hot and humid and the mozzies are ferocious but still nice.

You know that scene in the fifth element where Leeloo is reviewing human history and it’s all just humans waging wars, killing and enslaving each other? I kind of feel like her right now.

We went away for the weekend and it was 45 degrees when we got home this arvo. The normally excellent aircon took hours to cool the house down. 10pm and it’s still 33.8 degrees outside.

I love living here.

Went for a walk tonight and it was a delight.

I lost my glasses on the train to work yesterday so I rang lost and found last night and they’re at Fremantle Station. How good is that! I’ve been wearing an old pair and I do not like them anymore.

Ikea having two sales in the month before x-mas says something about current economic conditions.

Today’s daily dose of ducklings. This mama duck has kept all five babies alive for several weeks now, which is very impressive.

My neighbour fell off a ladder today and broke his back. Here are some ladder safety tips for you to think about: 1. Avoid using ladders by yourself. You need someone around to help and spot you. 2. When you go up and down the ladder someone should hold it stable at the bottom for you.

I love that feeling when you finally drop off the charity store donations that have been sitting in the car boot for several weeks.

Catching the train to the city today. It’s only half full and it is completely silent. The silence always amazes me.

Some great advice from the Barefoot Investor book that always stayed with me was that spending more money on quality items that you will use every day (eg underwear, glasses, your couch) is not a waste of money. I love that idea. They last a lot longer and bring you more joy to use.

Getting daily visits from this mama and her ducklings. So cute.

This cute kitty lives in the park behind my house. This is the closest it’s let me get.

I stayed on twitter after it became X for the info on SARS-COV-2 and climate change, but seeing Musk support Trump with lies and misinformation, acting like he was a hero and then thanking us for supporting him by using X, I decided to try Bluesky. It feels hopeful and nice here.
