I love a lined dress but loathe and despise lining fabric, which is all woven in the most pungent depths of hell. I carefully trim, fold, and sew the hem so it won’t show below the main fabric. it shows anyway. I wear the dress for 10 minutes and it bunches right up around my hips. HOW. WHY. evil.

I am also currently making a twee little pinafore that was blessed by a rare blast of sunlight this afternoon… you can just about see the shadow of the clips holding it onto the dummy because the next step is the zip and I don’t wanna 😅 #sewing 🪡

sometimes I think it would be great to be a bird, what with the flying and the unrestrained screaming and the not having a job. but then I watch one having to smash its entire face into a suet feeder to get a morsel of food, and I’m really not sure if that sits on the pro or con side 🤔

ok… I legitimately can’t stop thinking about this one. the 3D butterflies! the slightly inaccurate representation of metamorphosis! the buttons! the use of texture (bouclé for the stems, angora and chenille for the flowers/butterflies)!! true artistry 🥲

I have now not just threaded, but actually made something on my new overlocker. this is a dupe of my favouritest bought dress, which I have worn to the point of disintegration. overlocker really is a gamechanger - the time I saved not having to finish or trim all those seams 🥹 #FOFriday #sewing 🪡

for #ShowMeYourKnits stripes week I’m going with this - boardwalk blouse by poison grrls - which fully converted me to a short/crop top enthusiast. I made a slight mistake making it in 100% cotton - I have to really contort myself to get it on, but at least it holds its shape 🧶

I set myself a challenge this year to wear at least one hand-made item every day. so far I have a 100% success rate, and have worn an average of 2.4 items every day, with 32 unique items. I wore something hand-knit 90% of the days. 🧶
