🔔 Possible by-election alert! Runcorn and Helsby might soon be electing a new MP. As party activists are descending on the constituency, we want to send every PR supporter there a poster to put in their window. Let's make it clear what voters are demanding. Please donate to help make this happen:

Olaf Scholz will be remembered as Germany's shortest-serving chancellor in over five decades. Still, he will have served longer than 5 of the last 6 UK Prime Ministers. Tell us again how First Past the Post guarantees stability.

83.5% of Germans participated in yesterday's election. In the UK general election last year, just 60% took part. Studies show that countries with proportional systems have higher turnout. Voters engage more when they have a real choice and know that they can make a difference.

“The injustice of our electoral system is that parties have a huge majority of seats on a minority of the vote.” APPG Vice Chair & Green Party MP @EllieChowns on the need for Proportional Representation #getPRdone #ProportionalRepresentation leftfootforward.org/2025/02/excl...

Don't forget to sign up for the @makevotesmatter.bsky.social activist call with Lib Dem MP Sarah Olney to discuss the next steps in the campaign for fair votes. Sarah Olney has gained cross-party support for her PR Bill, which passed its first reading in December. actionnetwork.org/events/all-a...

“PR is not a magic bullet. It won’t fix everything overnight. But it is a necessary first step towards a system that makes voting worth something again. Because if nothing changes, disillusionment will only deepen. And that is the real threat to democracy.” westcountryvoices.co.uk/young-people...

Seize the moment. Tories just realized first past the post is a bad system. You can help by signing this letter from @makevotesmatter.bsky.social

No, Kemi. It’s a democratic scandal that *ANY* party can get a majority in Parliament on a minority of the vote. 👇 And it’s been getting worse for decades. 🛑 This is not sustainable for British democracy or politics. #ElectoralReform #ProportionalRepresentation #Democracy

Kemi Badenoch says it's "a scandal" that Labour won a landslide on 34% of the vote. So why won't she come out for PR? I signed the open letter from @makevotesmatter.bsky.social to @kemibadenochmp.bsky.social calling on her to back PR. Add your name here: actionnetwork.org/forms/sign-t...

📹 WATCH: In a recent interview, Kemi Badenoch said it's "a scandal" that Labour won a landslide on just a third of the vote. So why won't she call for a fairer voting system? We're writing to the Tory leader, asking her to back PR. Add your name👇 actionnetwork.org/forms/sign-t...

Labour won the last election on just a third of the vote. Now Nigel Farage believes he can do the same. Right, left or centre - NO ONE with minority support should have 100% of the power. That's why we demand Proportional Representation.

More of this please, Most of what we do should benefit younger people. Unfortunately, they don't vote in high enough numbers to get prioritised. Excellent from @willforster.bsky.social

"We're really bad at making long-term decisions because we have a broken political system." The Liberal Democrat MP for Woking @willforster.bsky.social spoke to Amelie Abass from Young MVM about the ways in which First Past the Post is failing us. 📹 Watch here: m.youtube.com/watch?v=3A8r...

The Commons is now in recess until Feb 24th. Of the 100 divisions held so far in this session, 38 would have changed result if seats matched votes. That is, 38% of the time, opposition MPs represented more people, but the government won anyway. @makevotesmatter.bsky.social

The House of Commons' Modernisation Committee has just published our submission. In it, we made the case that, to be fit for the future, Westminster must embrace Proportional Representation. Read more 👇

Thanks for your support, @timfarron.bsky.social! Today MVM activists and MPs are taking part in our Valentine's Day action, showing their love for Proportional Representation. It's time to break up with FPTP and swipe right on a fairer system where every vote counts. 💜🤍💚

Sheffield Hallam MP Olivia Blake has received a Valentine's Day card for her support for Proportional Representation! Thank you for speaking out for a fairer voting system 💖

The latest Corruption Perceptions Index has just come out. Of the 10 least corrupt countries in the world, NONE use FPTP and nearly all use some form of Proportional Representation. We see this over and over again: the world's most successful democracies use PR.

Thanks for your support, @willforster.bsky.social! @mvmnorthwestsurrey.bsky.social delivered a Valentine's Day card to their local MP, thanking him for advocating for a fairer voting system. We ❤️ a democratic system where no one is excluded and every voice is heard.

"I'm scared about where things are going if we don't change the system." @newhamgreens.bsky.social councillor @natehiggins.bsky.social spoke to Young MVM Ambassador Amelie Abass about the dangers of a system that ignores millions of voters. 📹 Full interview: www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4ln...

Well said Livvy from @makevotesmatter.bsky.social Youth arm: westcountryvoices.co.uk/young-people...

"Young people are not rejecting democracy. We are rejecting a system that has made a mockery of it." @makevotesmatter.bsky.social westcountryvoices.co.uk/young-people...

Today, @andywatto.bsky.social has been in Manchester with MVM Manchester engaging with the public on the need to reform our unfair voting system. #ProportionalRepresentation

"The YouGov poll found that those who align themselves to Labour are still overwhelmingly in favour of a PR system." Marc Ainge in @eastangliabylines.co.uk argues that Keir Starmer should listen to his own voters and bring in electoral reform. We agree! 💯

"Young people are not rejecting democracy. We are rejecting a system that has made a mockery of it... The system is designed to ignore us." This is a must-read blog by Young MVM Ambassador Livvy Gibbs. Young generations deserve better.

Unfortunately, Bluesky's one minute video limit doesn't allow us to post it here. But if you haven't yet, make sure you watch this great video by Young MVM activist Livvy. Is Gen Z really turning against democracy? 🤔 Watch now ⬇️

💥 We've reached an incredible milestone! 🎉 Thank you to the 100,000 people who have signed up to support the campaign for Proportional Representation. Our movement is growing in strength and numbers. If you haven't yet, now's a great time to join us: makevotesmatter.org.uk/join-the-mov...

"I hope that it will not be too long before this Labour Government aligns its stance on our voting systems with our guiding values of equality and democracy" 💬 @luke-akehurstmp.bsky.social speaking in favour of Proportional Representation during last week's debate 🌹 #Labour4PR

Hugely important point 👇 Turnout at the last general election was among the lowest in our democratic history. Many people feel like their vote makes no difference. Evidence shows that countries with PR have higher turnout. To restore trust in democracy, we must fix our voting system.

Last week, MPs debated Proportional Representation. A few of our grassroots campaigners went to Parliament that day to watch the debate and show their support for voting reform. MVM activist Michael Bursill writes about his experience 👇

Out on the streets of Woking again today to drum up support for our Valentine's campaign. Once again, engaging lots of people to talk about our broken voting system and the need to @makevotesmatter.bsky.social Thanks to all for getting out on a cold, but sunny Sunday!

"Most MPs who spoke backed a change to a more proportional system, where the share of seats would reflect the share of votes" 📻 Great to see the BBC coverage of last week's Commons debate on Proportional Representation, as cross-party pressure builds for a National Commission for Electoral Reform

It's time for fairer votes. After a historic vote of support for fairer voting in the Commons, the Government should allow the time to take this vital step in improving our democracy.

💥 Support for Proportional Representation is growing. Latest polling shows that 49% of the British public wants to switch to PR - including the majority of Green, Lib Dem, Reform and Labour voters. Just 26% of people would rather keep FPTP. It's time for change. It's time for PR.

"We're now at an unprecedented situation where 554 MPs, 85% of us, were elected with less than 50% of the voters who turned out" - @alexsobel.co.uk. Six in 10 people don't have the MP they wanted. We need a proportional system where they, too, are represented.

"People across the country are fed up with First Past the Post," says Sarah Olney MP. Today's debate showed that support for electoral reform is growing fast, also in Westminster. Now's the time to join us and campaign for a fairer system where everyone's voice is heard.

"The Prime Minister said that restoring trust in politics is the battle that defines our age. I believe that we earn that trust by ensuring that people feel heard and have a say in decisions that affect their lives." Excellent speech by Labour MP Joe Powell making the case for PR.

Millions of voters live in seats that have been held by the same party for decades, or even 100 years. As a result, their issues are often ignored. @sianberry.bsky.social is right: it's unacceptable that so many people are taken for granted. We need PR so that no seat is left behind.

Thank you to Richard Tice for giving us a shout out in Parliament. During today's debate, we heard pro-PR voices from across the political spectrum: from left to centre to right. One thing unites them: the belief that, in a democracy, all votes should be equal.

💯 "A voting system that means millions of people's votes don't count. A voting system that most people don't want to continue with." 👏 @alexsobel.co.uk calls for a National Commission for Electoral Reform during today's debate on Proportional Representation

Thank you to Lisa Smart MP for consistently speaking out for Proportional Representation. We won't restore trust in politics without addressing the core issue: a voting system that disempowers millions of people because of where they live. We need PR so that every voice is heard.
