but also the fact Mario is being asked if it's his first time in Underwhere suggests the possibilty of a Samsara type situation

speug report

this is the type of thing that stirs me when imagining the possibilities of the viking age, what stories lie behind the vast movement in time and space of this norse buddha?

never mind the classical statues the vitality and character of this is what I love most in Ancient Greek art

will christopher nolan be bold enough to have this scene in his odyssey

Another honour to work with @nmireland.bsky.social on the #DAEICS project for @ucc.ie and @qubelfastofficial.bsky.social #Archaeology @researchireland.bsky.social skfb.ly/p9WtM - Another milestone for DH_Age clearing that bucket list.

weird moment where it looks like two log robins have paired up and a third watches this unfold from afar

I wont feel truly at home here until I find a bunch of Japanese bird accounts that post beautiful photos of friendly flocks of sparrows

the complete lack of imagination for the armour in that pic of Nolans Odysseus is depressing to me I don't mean this in terms of historical accuracy like with Fellini's satyricon it isnt historically accurate at all, but it takes the mood and vibes of ancient Rome and does something interesting

Here's a drawing I made of that very scene where Thor tricks Alviss

interesting comparing Norse and continental German legends that originally had a similar source. The more thorugh christianisation of the German ones lessens a lot of the impact imo Like the story of the Rhine gold is so much more potent when you have the whole god cursed history weighing upon it

genuinely wondering how many of them are bots? being on a forum thread and realising not only was the orignal post AI but so were most of the replies to it was some real final scene from invasion of the body snatchers type shit

theres a few different Robins at the log now so i've tried to resist naming them due to the high chance theyll maybe fight to the death or be driven off but its hard not to become attached

A drawing I made of a scene I liked from Egil's saga where he invokes the spirits of the land against the King of Norway whose dynasty with its rising centralised power had persecuted his own family and land

i was going feral for a second finding out theres an Ulf Uggason saga only to discover its a post classical troll punch up ... not that theres anything wrong with that I just love the sagas about the skalds the best

Here's my drawing of Egill Skallagrímsson stirring up the land wights against the royal family of Norway www.patreon.com/posts/egill-...

Nice resource here if you are interested in how historic Insular languages sounded www.asnc.cam.ac.uk/spokenword/ The Spoken Word #celtic #asnc #oldenglish #oldnorse #medievalsky #languages

The Garryduff Bird This tiny golden bird, thought to be a wren, is one of the true treasures in the Cork Public Museum. It measures just 1.5cm, and is delicately made from gold foil and filigree. It was found during the excavation of a ringfort in north-east Cork by MJ O'Kelly in the 1940s.

here's a drawing I made of the Icelander Orm Stórolfsson wrestling a troll cat

love this song but I think this is my favourite version of it www.youtube.com/watch?v=y08Z...

OK, you haven't got a 'proper' roundhouse until you've got one with a souterrain beneath it! 😉 Late Iron Age / Pictish period #Scotland. Note the amphorae, where I infer possible trade with or, more likely, theft from Roman occupiers! © Bob Marshall / badenochstorylands.com 2020.

I only played DE just the once but I found everything to do with the Pale so fascinating, this makes me want to replay it

almost 5 years of taking photos of Robins every day, can i get a hell yes brother

@anndra.bsky.social did you see this btw? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

there's three Robins coming to the log now, I wonder if theyre all descended from the Log King surprised there hasnt been more fighting yet

🏺For this month's #OG_H_AM blog, I've written about our investigations into the ogham stone from Pool, Orkney - a team viewing of the 3D model and a trip to the excavation archive appear to have brought this inscription from the 6th century to the 9th! ogham.glasgow.ac.uk/index.php/20...

father forgive me for i have cringed

because im a giant nerd I got emotional thinking of this scene again "They cannot conquer forever"

I love this The site having a hogback means it makes a cameo in my Viking age comic the Hogback Saga too

Conjectural reconstruction of the peaceful sixth-century monastery at Kingarth, Isle of Bute - at least peaceful until the Vikings arrived. It is said to have been founded by the Irish monk Cathan (Catan or Cattan), but the site is more commonly associated with his nephew, St Blane (Irish Bláán).

biden and trump being a genocidal double act is why their entire fourth reich ass country as a whole needs to go for the good of all humanity

drawing Egill-Skallagrimsson again as self care

the Vikings in my comic are mostly mixed Norse-Gaels, I thought the tension and complexity of that would be interesting to explore by having a bard from Dal Riada, a Gaelic Kingdom presumably destroyed by the Norse appear at the King of Strathclyde's court in an intrigue scene

Just some delightfully weird early medieval carved crosses from Inchmarnock, Kingarth and Rothesay in Bute Museum

So this is really cool: a stamp impression from the library of the Ilkhanid vizier Rashid al-Din (d. 1318). It reads “pious endowment [waqf] of the Rashidiyya library,” & it may have been inspired by Chinese prints/stamps. Stamped waqf notices are totally unheard of for this time!

The Norn's web binds us all, oystercatchers, trying to convince the King to open up a sea trade route in the Viking age the new Hogback Saga update has it all
