Ukraine stunned by US demands that it withdraw Russia-critical United Nations motion. The latest, and most breathtaking, move by the Trump admin to support Putin

Can Trump bully Ukraine into giving up their resources by threatening to pull Starlink? It seems we'll find out.

How Russian disinformation poisoned our society

The sooner all involved recognise this and reconfigure accordingly, the better. And ... just curious ... what exactly is NATO now?

Elon Musk and Dominic Cummings "plot" to overthrow Keir Starmer? More to the point, is Cummings recruiting Musk and the tech bros to the populist technocracy underpinning his mooted 'StartUp Party'? And is it an achievable dream even if he is?

"misinformation is powerful, not because it changes minds, but because it allows people to maintain their beliefs in light of growing evidence to the contrary" from @cwarzel.bsky.social and Mike Caufield www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...

The moral of this story is - probably don't make friends with a high-powered unguided missile. I expect Musk will learn the same lesson in a different context soon enough.

When I good person dies, we discover anew that we all really value the goodness of such people, and reflect on it with fondness in their memory. Then we mostly go back to obsessing with the actions and statements of drongos. I'm not sure our actions are attuned to our stated preferences.

I'm all a-quiver wondering ... what WILL be the first conspiracy-theory event of 2025? So many possibilities, and the only certainty being it will have happened before we reach January 2nd.
