A genuinely horrific decision that should shame every single SNP MSP. I hope regular SNP members stand up to this.

Speaking at #ScotLab25 today, our National Official @mikecorbett1.bsky.social made a number of clear asks to Labour. NASUWT stands in support and solidarity with Scotland's trans community.

On Wednesday we're bringing a vote to end Scottish Government grants for the arms companies profiting from Israel's atrocities against Gaza. www.thenational.scot/news/2495453...

Damn, I don't think I've seen a protest this large outside a party conference ever. Really embarrassing for Scottish Labour, but fantastic solidarity for Palestinians and workers.

We will always stand by and support Scotland's trans community! 🏳️‍⚧️

Less than 24 hours later.

At what point do our parliamentarians remember they have LGBTI+ constituents they are meant to represent, and not to use as a punching bag in a desperate bid to fend off the rise of the reactionary right? Craven. Shameful. Nasty. Unforgiveable. I cannot and will not be silent in the face of this.

Absolutely fair play to the Scottish Greens, The National and The Ferret in standing up to christo-fascist lies about buffer zones. Scotland being everything Trump and Vance hate is a good sign. It's rather bewildering that the SNP's own social media is silent on the issue.

🚨The US Vice President just LIED about human rights in Scotland! Misinformation fuels the far-right; we won't stand by and let him get away with it. (More info below 👇)

Great Green canvass team out round Bannockburn ahead of council by-election next week! Lovely reception for our candidate @mariestadtler Thanks to @gillianmacmsp for joining 💚#votegreen

Fun morning with the Scottish Greens 💚

RIP to this absolute king

I support independence for many reasons, but one major one is to protect Scotland's environment from the harms of climate change. Do the people behind AIM see what's happening across the world?

Why should parents who want to see nice photos and videos of what their child’s learning have to use an app that actively pushes extreme content onto their screens and into their minds? Gemma Clark asks ✍️

Given owner of Twitter is going full far-right in his conspiracy theorising nonsense today, accelerating my move to making Bluesky my primary shortform outlet for Ballot Box Scotland content. Had been going to do so in early May (1 year until next Holyrood election), now ending US Inauguration Day.

Aurora Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localised entirely within Stirling?

gonna be a real interesting 6 hours

I spent the last two years studying Modern Monetary Theory #MMT. Here's 30 very useful things you know about the economy when you understand MMT. Essential as we head into 2025. This is also a source for anyone who gets frustrated at the 'strawman' attacks on MMT. scotonomics.scot/30-things-yo...

ME: who lurks in the shadows of my bedroom? NOSFERATU: it’s Nosferatu ME: who? NOSFERATU: Nosferatu ME: I don’t understand what you’re saying NOSFERATU: I’m Nosferatu ME: NOSFERATU: *sighs* it’s Dracula ME: eek

We’re hearing a lot of this sort of thing lately and I don’t agree with it. Defending fundamental human rights is not a “distraction.” The big error is thinking that there a fixed quantity of political engagement, such that solidarity with one group means doing less on something else.

As ever, I don't do Westminster projections myself, but this is a stark reminder of how absurd FPTP is as a system. SNP on roughly same vote share in July and here, but on 9 (16%) versus 33 (58%) seats. The BBS-example open list PR system would instead be 17 (30%) or 18 (32%).

This is the statement that I, as the only trans person on the LGBT Labour National Committee asked them to make. They completely and utterly ignored me and will release a shockingly poor statement at 16:00. LGB Labour have completely lost the confidence of the trans community.

A lot of responses are saying we need the indy movement to come together to fight the far right. It needs to be bigger than that. Yes needs to join trade unions, BLM, climate youth, internationalists, and others under a progressive banner. Bigger than an indy - we need a united national movement.

Incredibly messed-up decision targeting vulnerable trans youth. It is frankly disgusting to see this government inserting itself in people’s lives so harmfully and unnecessarily.

Anas Sarwar has decided to vote with the rest of the Scottish Conservatives tonight in parliament, whilst the rest of his party abstained. Source: www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-...

Pro-indy parties have the right to vote against a budget if they believe it does not go far enough to help people in Scotland. It does not determine your credentials as an independence party. Saying otherwise just shows you're unserious about debating actual policy.

As we look to the future of the independence movement, and move forward following the memorial of Alex Salmond last week, I’ve written some thoughts. As a woman, a feminist, and a supporter of independence, this is something I felt I had to reflect on and share: substack.com/@caitlinloga...

NEW: Human rights organization Amnesty International has released a 296-page report concluding that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The group joins Holocaust historians, United Nations experts, and a growing number of nations worldwide in doing so.

I love this article from @caitlinlogan.bsky.social. I completely agree that there has been a deliberate attempt to tarnish the good work of the LGBTQ+ sector. People who work tirelessly, for the betterment of the community, just to see homo / bi / transphobia www.thenational.scot/politics/247...
