Daffodils on a stormy day at Glastonbury Abbey. This was taken on this day last year. The daffodils seem a bit behind where they usually are this year.

Through their collective action, our sixth-form teaching members have secured funding for an above-inflation pay award, guaranteeing the integrity of their collective bargaining. A hard-earned win, well done! neu.org.uk/press-releas...

Poster from legendary Pulp gig in Halifax 1991. Read about it in me book ‘So It Started There. P177.

Our children deserve fully funded schools, not endless ‘efficiencies.’ Without proper funding, it’s students who suffer. #FundFairPay Read more about our pay campaign here 👉 buff.ly/4jnuBod

When a linguistics professor has not met enough Irish people …

Discworld QOTD, from Unseen Academicals '“The female mind is certainly a devious one, my lord." Vetinari looked at his secretary in surprise. "Well, of course it is. It has to deal with the male one.”'

Crows are never just crows. They are messengers, omens, and watchers at the edges of the seen and unseen. When they call, do you listen? #DivineFeminine #WitchSky #BlueSky #PaganSky #BookSky

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

Well, it's been a while since i've done this, but i've added NINE new signed books onto my website. I'm going to post about each one individually (aren't you lucky!), but if you want to see all nine now, here's a link. www.biggreenbookshop.com/signed-copie...

Fantastic! German translator loses it live on tv during Trump’s rambling and shouts out in desperation: “How long do you guys wanna stay with this shit?” 🤣

This is a beautiful tribute.

One of the great errors in the late 20th Century was not pushing back anything like hard enough against the notion that the primary purpose of education is preparation for employment.

David Lynch’s death feels like one of those vast losses that devours the timeline. Where do you begin? “Lynchian” is as significant a way to see the world as Orwellian or Kafkaesque

Spotted on a very sunny market day in a small city in Aotearoa New Zealand: A tiny human (2?) is sitting in a stroller with a big punnet of strawberries on her lap. She's cheerfully mashing them into her mouth with one hand while waving at passers by with the other. This is the BEST thing EVER! (1)

Does anyone else’s family have superstitions about New Years Day? We were always told never to do laundry as it would ‘wash someone out of the family’ (basically if you wash your clothes on this day it will be your fault when a relative dies 😳) #folklore

Having not read the sentencing remarks, I’m cautious about rushing to conclusions, but on its face Feathers McGraw appears to be a prime example of the rampant sentence inflation that has led to chronic overcrowding in our zoos and the unedifying spectacle of animals being released early.

We’re celebrating Christmas the old-fashioned way (making a human sacrifice and worshipping the sun)

It’s time! After 23 years of marriage, the in-laws are still putting us in the Peach Room of Doom, with the Formica Stool of Chastity, and new for this year, an ironing board for a splash of colour. #DuvetKnowItsChristmas #XmasAtTheInlaws and donate to Centrepoint via @rhodri.biz

Nice decor ✅ Wood burner ✅ Airbed on the floor ✅ Peloton ✅ Electric piano ✅ #duvetknowitschristmas

So, let's try doing #duvetknowitschristmas here this evening? People are literally Driving Home For Christmas right now, which MIGHT JUST mean that they'll be sleeping somewhere unusual. 1/

Happy Hogswatch! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Happy Winter Solstice to all in the northern hemisphere. The turn of the year's tide, a pivot-point, a day of hope—when the dark stops rising & after which the Sun begins its slow climb back. A day I celebrate more than Christmas or New Year. Fiat lux! 📷 by @annieworsley.bsky.social

Room full of satire writers will struggle to find a funnier line that the BBC Newsreader just now saying “The Chinese approached Prince Andrew in the hope of finding intelligence’”
