Irregular reminder that eugenics *was* science and that the entire history of science up to the present contains instances of similar things occurring. Every scientist is still capable of doing similar things with a different subject today that will only be judged in hindsight.

Not sure if I know anyone who works on witches here but I'm trying to find if there are any early modern examples (especially in England) of women who were accused of being witches then proudly affirming or reclaiming their (purported) witch status. Can anyone help?

I find myself liking Preciado's words less the second time around, but I can't quite put my finger on why

Any physicists in the audience? Is there a way to predict the phonon modes (or at least density of states) for a given twisted bi-layer hexagonal lattice? I imagine the frequency range depends on the base hexagon size and the size of the combined unit cell.

Throwback to the time a psychiatrist I have never directly interacted with told his followers I suffer from "pseudologica fantastica" because I wrote an article that mentioned the extremely well documented allegations that he was a conversion therapist.

A lot of professionals talk a lot of shit about how unstable and problematic dissociative people are. However, the most complex crap I've experienced is in predominantly singlet spaces. And my plural spaces are, for the most part, the most conflict free groups I'm in.

my last job used DEI training to target and fire people who called out the discrimination at work (including me). there is a lot of valid critique of DEI from the left, but mainstream news will never pay attention to it

Fun Fact: Peter Singer did a translation of "The Golden Ass" which just so happens to completely remove the transfeminine Galli from the story but pays extra attention to a certain scene that occurs between the donkey and a woman.

This quote became extremely ironic after having gone back and read Halberstam's "nice trannies" article in TSQ and makes it seem like he was just mad that Andrea Long Chu wrote his book better than he did.

1/🧵 The Cass Review final report was quietly amended in December 2024, just before the permanent ban was announced, and it seems to have gone unnoticed. While most of the changes were minor and clerical, two of them were significant. Both changes relate to informed consent.
