Der Vatikan meldet, Papst Franziskus befinde sich erneut in einem kritischen Zustand. Nach einer »anhaltenden asthmatischen Atemkrise« habe er Sauerstoff und Bluttransfusionen erhalten.

Jimmy Carter library abruptly cancels three upcoming book talks on civil rights history, homelessness, and climate change. It appears this is related to the new requirement to get approval from DC for all events. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/a...

Right-wing ideologues simply do not understand how much we love our Black and trans friends, partners, brothers, sisters, and children. They can never be the thin end of a wedge between us because they are us.

“lose your stomach” they playin' at royalty. & now this nation is falling, on its way to crash & burn. like an old country road, in the deep ol’ south, when the car drops right out from under you, and you lose your stomach. and that's yer eudaimonia, all you get.

This is the thing. As the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia showed in 1989, even a hard-communist regime relies at some level on the consent of the governed. We do NOT have to consent to Trumpism's flexes, illegal orders or their hoped-for sense of doom.

So watching the news these days is finding out about the day's crimes committed by the criminal syndicate running the gov't. Just one horror after another. "Good" news comes in the form of crimes they decided for now not to commit: "We aren't gonna steal the United States Postal Service... yet."

The smash & grab criminal syndicate, which is selling out the American people, & stripping & selling the US gov't for parts has entered its 2nd month of crime. So far resistance to the criminal conspiracy has been weak from the courts & worse than weak from most elected Democrats.

the trump administration is a criminal enterprise, in business for itself, dispensing with any responsibility to serve (or even represent) the American people whatsoever.

gravedigger of american democracy. a more malign influence than john c calhoun.

The United States government is no longer in service to the American people. Expect NOTHING from this government as it self-destructs. The United States government under trump is a criminal syndicate in business for itself.

Good luck after the next disaster. Government looking out for you. Not. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/c...

just fought off a panic attack at 5:45am, as i dwelt too long thinking about the Russian talks, and that we have Secretary of State Sippy Cup (& his talent of turning holy scripture into nursery rhymes) making the 'deal' for the golden anus, betraying Ukraine and us and the whole wide world.

This is good.

i will become a total shill for whichever politician decides to become the joe mccarthy of rooting out silicon valley ideology and influence

BREAKING: Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier released from prison after nearly 50 years

"where everybody knows/doesn't know yer name" i heard everybody was over here trashing peter baker for, you know, betraying canada, or sumptin'. but here i find politico, & it 'upped' its game, with a 92-year-old scoop. and, well, "dang..."

at the end of the 1st quarter of the 21st century, it became apparent that most of the voters who led to the destruction of democracy in the US were so do to gross stupidity. and the murmur just before their faces were eaten was, “Now I’m like: ‘Dang, why didn’t I just pick Kamala?’”

New people i hate today with the heat of 1000 suns. The corporation that owns the residential care facility where my partner did an art session with several residents, & heard that "coffee is too expensive" for residents to have an afternoon cuppa. Pathetic. And that would be Sinceri Senior Living.

Tom Homan asks “where is that line,” as if it is mysterious or unknowable. It’s not. Tom’s saying it that way because he’s too much of a coward just to say “she should be arrested for telling people their rights.” Also, to be fair, he may be too dim to understand the line.

FT columnist: "It is clear that the US can no longer be regarded as a reliable ally for the Europeans. But the Trump administration’s political ambitions for Europe mean that, for now, America is also an adversary" www.ft.com/content/11f1...

and who knew totalitarianism would be so fucking stupid? laughably stupid (except for all the pain and blood and death). *brave new world* & *1984* never prepared me for how utterly stupid this transformation is becoming — measurable daily, even by the hour, since Jan 20, 2025.

"why people write sci-fi" the human species may, very shortly, be starting from scratch again. starting from the seeds of progress being buried in the various soils of totalitarianism. who know when or where they may grow again.

This Day (ur, evening) in Labor History: February 15, 1988. Environmentalists stormed the gate of International Paper in Jay, Maine as part of a solidarity action with workers on strike, attempting to shut it down. Let's talk enviro-labor solidarity!
