Is vindictive asshole really what folks want in a political leader?

but what do you really think brad lander hellgatenyc.com/brad-lander-...

It’s probably not great to wake up this pissed off. Then I think of how pissed off Justice Jackson must be.

Shabbat Shalom to everyone who recognizes that the safety, freedom & thriving of Jews and Muslims are bound up together — in Israel & Palestine, across the five boroughs, and in many other beloved places.

Fine, I’ll pitch #mets

NYC Comptroller Brad Lander: "I don't think the line for the [Democratic] party right now is between progressives and moderates; I think it's between fighters and folders."

My statement on the vile rhetoric being spread about Zohran Mamdani:

As a Jewish American, I want to make clear that I am disgusted by the Islamophobic attacks and false accusations of antisemitism against Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party nominee for mayor of New York.

Idk about that pangram. My final word before 🫅🐝 🎺

ICE is now changing tactics and arresting people who have been granted asylum hearings.   This is both a violation of US & international law that demands immediate attention from all New York elected officials & underscores the urgent need for legal service providers to be at all of these cases.

Illegitimate court. Illegitimate government. It will require a massive grassroots movement by the people.

Lander: "It's just gross, racist bigotry. Meanwhile he's running an optimistic, upbeat campaign for a NY where everybody belongs, and I feel proud as the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in NYC to be supporting somebody who would be the first Muslim mayor—what could be more NYC than that?"

As abortion access is under attack across the nation, New Jersey must have the courage to protect it. Indifference is complacency. Inaction is complicity. We spoke with NJ Monitor and urged state lawmakers to expand abortion access for all. Read more: newjerseymonitor.com/2025/06/24/f...

Two years ago I interviewed a 31-year-old NY state assemblymember about a 7-year-old girl killed by an SUV driver in his district. I hung up the phone, astonished that I'd talked to a legislator who so thoughtfully articulated what actually needs to change on our streets. He'll make a great mayor

Reality check for the general election: Mamdani is poised to end up with at least 525,000 “final round” votes when the remaining ballots are counted and RCV is run. That alone is equivalent to 45% of all votes cast in the last mayoral *general election*, just with primary votes.

Who/Whom If you can answer the question with "him" then you use ‘whom.’ --> they both end in ‘m’. If you can answer the question with “he,” use ‘who.’ -Whom are you going to the concert with? -I'm going with him. -Who broke the toaster? -He did.

SOTO HOMER AGAIN Most multi-homer games before turning 27: Juan Soto: 27 Jimmie Foxx: 26 Mel Ott: 25 Eddie Mathews: 25 Alex Rodriguez: 25

I just left court and pleaded not guilty—because I am not guilty. We will fight this. Trump’s administration won’t intimidate me or stop me from doing my job. To all who stand up to this administration—do not back down. The facts are on our side. I look forward to the next time in court.

Here's a fun thing that a top donor to Andrew Cuomo's super PAC just told me.

There’s a weird thing on this website and lots of left-wing subcultures, where people love to throw around “liberal” as an insult, but from what I can tell liberals voted overwhelmingly against Cuomo and are rallying behind Zohran now.

Nadler just endorsed Mamdani. A big deal both because of his epic tenure as a congressman and Jewish leader and because, I'm sad to say, the Upper West Side, which he represents and where I live, went for Cuomo and is home to a great many people who (I'm going to put this politely) need reassuring.

It's an open secret that US garment factories are staffed with undocumented workers. After decades of toiling for low pay, I've yet to see a single fashion brand speak up on about the raids on LA's garment district. In 2016, Robert Geller at least made an "Immigrant" t-shirt to raise funds.

I love the people trying to make Mamdani seem scary when he looks like the most in demand pediatric dentist in Manhattan.

Buffalo’s acting mayor is a staunch police union ally who has attacked efforts to crack down on police misconduct, & has also called for rollbacks to the 2019 bail reform law. He lost last night in his primary, and it wasn’t close.

Brad Lander speaks: "Andrew Cuomo is in the past. He is not the present or future of New York City. Good fucking riddance"

The only pollster (literally) to get tonight right, PPP, takes a victory lap. And says they “saw Zohran Mamdani’s first place finish coming before anyone else did for one simple reason: we polled the 2025 electorate instead of the 2021 electorate.” www.publicpolicypolling.com/polls/why-pp...

For those in the know this is just as big as Cuomo’s concession

one more election thing this morning: because New York is large, people might lose sight of the Mamdani victory being local politics. but it is, and it points up the potential of local politics to reshape direction, to inspire broadly, to change the story

Hope and solidarity won tonight, and will win again in November. Congratulations, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

"GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE"

Literally always. It’s why candidate recruitment is the whole fucking ballgame.

Strong night for left: —Mamdani will finish well ahead in 1st round. —All challenged NYC Progressive Caucus councilors will win, that's 10 of them. —Left may add new councilors (e.g. some AOC- or WFP-endorsed non-incumbents up) —The more liberal (WFP-endorsed) candidates up in Syracuse and Buffalo

Brad Lander: "I also need to thank some of the most important people in my life and on this campaign—I mean, of course, the NYT editorial board. Just kidding, of course: I love Wordle and Connections, but I really urge the Times to cancel their new feature 'Editorial Riddles.' No one likes those."

Now is the winter of our discontent Made glorious summer by this son of York

Imagine if the Democratic Party actually helped Zohran instead of trying to kneecap him at every step. A better party is immediately possible if they stop shoving money into the anti-trans combination Racism Dial/Money Toilet and instead get behind candidates people actually want.

One of the things I said over and over again for four years was that Eric Adams succeeded because Wiley/Garcia didn’t form a coalition until it was too late. It was a .5% win, and people treated it like a landslide. This is what RCV can deliver when candidates see success in each other.

"But one thing is clear: Together, we are sending Andrew Cuomo back to the suburbs." —Brad Lander, just now.

There's a lot at stake at the ballot box in November — with the stroke of a pen, Jack Ciattarelli could begin unraveling reproductive rights here in NJ. That is why I'm fully committed to working with the state legislature to enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution, once and for all.

If I had to guess what happened with the polling: look at the number of young voters who turned out early. They weren’t in anyone’s likely voter screen.

RESULTS: Alvin Bragg easily secures the Democratic primary for DA of Manhattan. Jumaane Williams easily secures the Democratic primary for the city's public advocate. Both faced challengers from their right.

Tonight! Join NJPP's Peter Chen for a conversation about what's at stake in this year's budget, what we can do to make the budget process more transparent, and what actions we can take to pass a budget that serves the needs of New Jersey’s working families.
