Perhaps you've seen my thread on the £64 Million for culture? bsky.app/profile/kenn... Of course, this is just one press release! Perhaps there will be additional news of more funding? Guess what? There is. But is it good news? (new thread)

I call this one ‘Purbeck’ (50x50 cms oil on canvas). I won't say any more about the title other than it seemed an obvious choice given the mark-making in the work. I never set out to paint this but what you see here is the point at which I arrived and stopped travelling.

@crosseyedpianist.bsky.social welcome oh lovely one! Xxx

I’m delighted to announce a collaboration with the fantastic saxophone talent Don-Paul Kahl. donpaulkahl.com/en/about The work is comprised of 19 sections, each a free-standing solo. Performances may be constructed from a combination of all or any of the solos. ‘without quiet voices’ lasts 36 mins.

50x30 cm oil on canvas. It feels as if everything I have painted in my life has led me to this point, and as ever, this most likely isn’t the destination. Is there ever a destination with painting? Perhaps paintings are ways of marking points along the journey to find one’s truest expression.

@doylearmbrust.bsky.social Veey happy to meet and thanks for following, Doyle.

Those final, satisfying brushstrokes that tell me to stop painting. I could continue. But this point to stem the activity looks excellent and I shall follow my judgement.

This 50x50 cm oil on canvas has a sense of places I know in Scotland, that damp, rocky, turbulent scantily wooded terrain I have walked in. #modernart #contemporaryart #abstractart #painting #artgallery #fineart #abstract #artcollector #abstractpainting #contemporarypainting #artforsale #oilpainting

Thrilled to be a contributor to this new book, which stems from a desire to recontextualise the harpsichord, bringing it to the forefront of 21st-century musical discourse through collaborations with many performers and composers. www.visionedition.com/publication/...

This string piece, ‘The Fall of the Leafe’, by Peter Maxwell Davies, is dedicated to me. What an honour. youtu.be/lpI0pSoM-i0?... Composition date 2004 Duration 8 min Editor: Schott Dedicatee: Marc Yeats Opus 254

Another new one! 50x40cm. Oil on canvas.

In the studio yesterday. New beginnings and new adventures in colour, texture and form. Not finished but on the way, keeping that spontaneity going.

Wrapped up warm as I tidy the studio ready for making new work. That’s the easy bit. Making the new work is rather more daunting. I’ll keep you posted about how I get on. Today saw a solid start. Excited and a little bit scared to see where it all leads. Finger’s crossed.

One of the highlights of my life as a composer. ‘a point in the landscape’. A timecode-supported spatialised polytemporal orchestral work. With the fabulous BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Tectonics 24 in Glasgow with the indomitable @ilanvolkov.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p...

Clarinet students of all types - I'm going to be leading a few workshops at this fabulous clarinet festival over a long weekend in May in Germany. Other teachers include Nicholas Baldeyrou, Kilian Herold, Shirley Brill, etc. It's going to be ace! Come join us! www.bdb-online.de/clarimondo/

Many of you have joined recently. (Hi!) I'd love it if you could follow my page for my chamber opera Jan Tait and the Bear, which we are trying to turn into an animated film (with Greenlight Creative, Clubhouse Animation, Meilo So and Ensemble Thing).

This sounds fabulous!!

@mknoop.bsky.social Hello Mark. It’s been a long time. Very happy to connect on here. I look forward to your posts.

Just one example of the inspiring programme making of Oliver Knussen, from Proms 2011.Stunning!

@johneckhardt.bsky.social Good to meet you, John. The double bass is a magnificent instrument!

Re-sharing this post from 2 years ago. Wish I could say things have improved, but those in a position to improve things don't seem to have any intention of doing so. kennethwoods.net/blog1/2023/0...

It’s great to have had a recent uptake of musician followers. To get a head of steam on here we need more connectivity, more postings, comments, discussions, recordings and score shots. The more of us connect, the more we build a vibrant community free from X and FB/Insta. Let’s call this home!

Friends, some fun news: my next album is coming out on January 10 on New Focus Recordings and the pre-order link is now live. The band includes Anna Webber, DeVon Russell Gray, and Daniel Fisher-Lochhead, plus me on drums. Lots more info on bandcamp: newfocusrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/hemloc...

@ilanvolkov.bsky.social Excellent to see you here, Ilan. It’s very quiet at the moment on Bluesky but I’m hoping it will get musically noisier soon. At least there’s no adds and the nutters seem thinner on the ground than elsewhere! Warm Welcome!

@joharristrumpet.bsky.social Good to meet you Jo and thanks for connecting. Here’s a bit of trumpet music so shake off those Christmas cakes!

A Christmas Greeting!

“The peers will now be entitled to a tax-free £361 daily allowance - plus travel expenses - when they attend Parliament.” I wish someone would make me into a peer!!! It’s a good living. Lord Marc of Crewkerne!

Any dramatic, sensitive, atonal-comfortable Dorset/Somerset/Southwest England-based tenors or baritones excited to sing New Music, also with improvisational experience out there? Please give suggestions and if possible, post links to some vocal examples. Thank you 🙏❤️🎶 #singing
