The world is burning but Kraftwerk is playing in my city, so there’s that. I pulled out my early 2000s handmade cyber gauze pieces and my spiked PAPR mask.

The deportations will continue until morale improves, I guess.

It’s the little things!

I saw her at the Utah State Capitol and had to take her photo (with her permission). She had a photographer and I’d love to see the professional photos!

Such bullshit. I’ve seen nothing of the sort but frankly, I believe we need black bloc bc I believe in Diversity of Tactics. Cops? Check the shoes. I’m a COVID-cautious goth. You better bet I’m protesting (lawfully & non-violently but not, like, politely) in all black while wearing a mask.

Part of me is glad I stocked up on several years’ worth of Penzey’s Double Vanilla Extract when it was on sale last month, while another part of me wonders if buying vanilla was a good use of money. I’ve wondered similarly about everything I’ve purchased since November.

This reminds me of something from the 1980s. I don’t know why! Maybe it’s just that the art looks like something I’d have seen in Cricket magazine. But the beautiful sentiment and gorgeous (and witty) art are worth a peruse. Spoiler for the anxious: Bridget came home.

Another view of the SLC, UT protest.

What I missed in SLC. I was there in spirit (about 1 mile behind this photo, stuck in a canyon).

I tried to go to the protest. Unfortunately, this is LDS Conference weekend when many Mormons go to downtown SLC, about 3 blocks from the Capitol building. This convergence was bad for everyone. I spent 2 hours in gridlock and saw nicely dressed women hiking miles to the conference in heels. :/

Deleting / logging out of most of my social media on top of 5 years of socially isolating to protect myself from infections has highlighted how lonely I am. I IM and have calls with friends but I really do yearn for more interactions. I miss going dancing. I miss parties. I miss people.

Most days, I doggedly persist, queer shoulder to the wheel. But under it all, I’m 2cm from sobbing forever. My mother died in October. A few days later the wheels fell off my country. I may never return to the place of my childhood. I don’t always know how to keep going. Only that I have to.

I didn’t post yesterday b/c I wanted to yield to my trans siblings, but today I will note that I am somewhere off the gender spectrum. Sorta gender non-conforming, not really comfortable with the gender I was assigned at birth, not really moved to take on a different gender. It’s all illusion.

Now at 16.5 hours. He’s on a roll!

Pro tip for making alt text for images of text: open an image of text in your photos app and the app might have the ability to convert the image to text. (iPhones can. I don’t know about others.)

CBC science show Quirks and Quarks just had another great episode talking about the long term damage caused by each COVID infection. If you're starting to wonder why so many hard-core scientists are so contemptuous of our public health institutions, listen to this. www.cbc.ca/radio/quirks...
