I clerked for a federal judge (in the Southern District of New York.) Must be a bit more exciting these days.

Wow. Well worth the half hour or so it takes to carefully read this masterpiece. "In the event that Defendants do not choose to purge their contempt, the Court will proceed to identify the individual(s) responsible for the contumacious conduct ..."

Revising is almost as painful as writing in the first place, but more rewarding. Encouraged by the mounting evidence that even Shake(-)speare spent a lot of time revising plays someone else had written.

Let's remember that our president was found guilty of multiple felonies beyond a reasonable doubt by a unanimous home-town jury after an elaborate example of due process. And that this fact is of ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE in persuading anyone to stop aiding and abetting this monster.

Conveniently in the middle of the international conference on AI & Law at Northwestern

Friends in London, I'm hosting a Women+AI event at Dentons on April 25, workshop at 2 and networking mingle at 5. Open to all women who work in AI, use AI, or are simply curious about AI. If you're in town, please join! www.eventbrite.com/e/women-ai-l...

Once disgraced and separated from power, members of the Tr_mp administration should be sentenced to watch themselves acting as fools and devils for at least as long as their 'service'

Prouder than usual to be be an alum of MIT and Harvard, and resident in a state whose Congressional delegation includes no bootlickers. Looking forward to celebrating the 250th anniversary of the 'shot heard round the world' this weekend in Concord.

Harvard's motto is Veritas Tr_mp's is Falsitas

Proud that these two firms have been among my clients. (I won't say which firms on the 'other' side may also have been ...)

Why did Ben Jonson and others perpetuate the false narrative that has beguiled the world for four centuries?

I sometimes A|B test my posts. (On the Anti-democratic X and the Blissful-but-monochromatic Bluesky) Despite more nominal followers in the former, I get a little more engagement in the latter.

Nature’s reminder that we can still defeat the MAGA beavers before they topple our constitutional republic

Columbia may have signed its own death notice. Word has it that tomorrow Columbia will announce an agreement to formal oversight by Trump. This, if true, will signal the death of Columbia as we knew it - a premier teaching and research institution. I explain it here: youtube.com/shorts/W7Rr7...

I've had an instinctual revulsion against bullies since at least elementary school, when I ended up on my back in the playground dirt after defending a classmate (who happened to be Jewish) being taunted by one

I read that "Thoreau felt any day wasted in which he did not spend at least four or five hours walking in the woods and fields." I've only been averaging a daily such hour for a couple decades. Maybe that's why I can't name as many trees, birds, or wildflowers as Henry David could.

Politicians propelled into office by dark money are understandably more beholden to their donors than to their constituents And citizens understandably feel powerless Yet united we can reverse the dismal situation

I'm more concerned about the guy cosplaying the US President

If you feel like being inspired by a big law firm, here's the opening to Sussman Godfrey's lawsuit against Trump and his executive order targeting the firm. It still is amazing other firms caved quickly to Trump's mob-like and unconstitutional shakedown. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

If they even exist in any meaningful way, I also wonder how they would ever be enforced, being the product of extortion and otherwise void as against public policy. Maybe that's why seemingly smart lawyers are ok with 'negotiating' them.

Those clever lawyers may be taking refuge in the expression "causes that both Trump AND the firms support" since that could well be an empty set

The firms are drawing the wrong conclusion from the adage that there is safety in numbers, maybe figuring that prospective employees can't boycott 'all' the big firms ...

Nah. If Republicans haven't stood up yet, we're foolish to ever expect them to.

With new Executive Orders targeting Chris Krebs (senior official who helped keep 2020 election secure) and law firm that won $788m settlement against Fox News. A must read from Weds, by Harold Koh. Discussing amicus brief signed by esteemed bipartisan former officials. Also a great history lesson

Let's be clear. Republicans are cheering on brazenly corrupt and illegal behavior by a president that no decent person would tolerate in a local dogcatcher. And their SCOTUS majority is greasing the skids.

Some Big Law leaders are surprisingly Little

Many Big Law lawyers are acting disappointingly small, while some 'small' ones are encouragingly big.

Imagine devoting evenings and weekends to mind numbing work, and then being rewarded with 'pro bono' service on behalf of causes you detest

When I hear about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory disaster I often think about defense lawyer Max Steuer adroitly preventing justice from being served. Probably a hero to some soul-less souls remaining in the DOJ.

Short clip of me receiving the Suffolk Law LIT Lab impact award and ensuing remarks yesterday afternoon. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kj72...

If a left-wing AntiTrump ever occupied the White House and began trashing the Constitution, I would rise up, however much I might support other aspects of his or her agenda. That so few Republicans have a similar instinct is saddening and terrifying.

I knew Jim Keane, helped to establish this award in his honor, and had the pleasure of conferring it a couple times. Jim would be proud of all the good works that have been honored in his name.

Only He Can Nix It

I'm very grateful to Suffolk Law School for letting me take another shot at the Shakespeare and Knowledge Technology course that premiered in the fall of 2022. www.legalevolution.org/2022/05/look...

Finished Wolf Hall last night. Eerie parallels to present circumstances.
