Ramadan Mubarak 🌙 to all my friends and neighbors beginning Ramadan tonight.

This is what makes me lose sleep

A guy who used to be a comedian & is good at improv and dealing with hecklers and who has also spent the last 3 years in a war zone turns out to be a guy you can’t out-alpha, imagine that

Zelensky is a wartime leader watching his people suffer and die under Russian attacks every day. To be lectured and lied to by Trump and Vance, as they defend the war criminal dictator committing these atrocities, is unimaginable agony. An everlasting shame for America.

Vladimir Putin’s useful idiot is now the President of the United States. If there are still students and teachers of history in the new world order, our grandchildren will learn that this was the greatest intel operation ever.

Can't help be think about the pressure Zelensky is under right now. And despite that, the courage he is demonstrating. Sincerely, who among us would be able to do what he's doing?

Federal workers are the backbone of our Commonwealth, whether they live in this region or contribute to the economic well-being outside of Northern Virginia. The recent job and funding cuts are deeply concerning as thousands of Virginians face uncertainty. Here are some state and local resources.

I’ve heard one GOP candidate propose a Va Gov level DOGE. How about a state level Consumer Financial Protection Bureau?

Did you know the City of Norfolk played a key role in the development of IVF? In fact, the first IVF baby in America was born in Norfolk. Last week, I took to the House floor to share more about this history. ⤵️ youtu.be/Hu7BxrHikUM?...

Picking up lots of followers the last few days, welcome!

I used to think this was really dumb/uselss metric. Now I’m not so sure 😂 www.vpap.org/visuals/visu...

Please join us in spreading the proposed new seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia, modified for modern days.

The road to passing the personal use ban was long, but lawmakers didn’t miss the chance to reflect on the journey & celebrate its long-overdue passage at a press conference this week—"What's the saying," said Del. Simon, "12th time's the charm, right?" @marcussimon.com richmond.com/news/state-r...

Fed job and funding cuts would hit Virginia hard. We’re bringing together a bipartisan group to assess the impact, gather the facts, and ensure we’re prepared to protect families. This isn’t about politics—it’s about protecting Virginians. cardinalnews.org/2025/02/17/f...

Started my morning at 7 am in House Rules with a docket of about 40 bills- just had my last bill heard in Senate Finance and Appropriations 12 hours and 10 minutes later - it reported unanimously.

Trump is blocking the Associated Press from the Oval Office. Rather than stand up for freedom of the press, the rest of legacy media is taking advantage of AP's absence. When this inevitably leads to AP cutbacks, the same legacy media will lament the plight of media decline.

SB982, the Tysons Casino Bill, has been effectively killed for the rest of this year's legislative session in a House subcommittee. I extend my thanks to the thousands of constituents who contacted me and other General Assembly members, sharing their positions on this matter.

House Appropriations subcommittee passes by for the day the Fairfax casino bill (on a voice vote)...and then the Chair immediately reminds us that this is the last meeting of this subcommittee for the session. So, that's that most likely.

NEW from me: NIH funding cut fight boils over in Virginia House #valeg @marcussimon.com www.wvtf.org/news/2025-02...

We need state level ban on Ghost Guns

We're up! We're up in DC making some noise!

House passes Del @marcussimon.com resolution requiring JLARC to study what books have been banned in Virginia, where, on whose request, and for what reason.

I'm glad to see that @marcussimon.com's bill expanding Virginia's swastika vandalism law to include private property and public places is sailing through with bipartisan support. With antisemitism on the march from all sides, this is one way to say "enough!" lis.virginia.gov/bill-details...

Super show of allyship from Hashim Davis of UVA Office of African-American Affairs, testifying in House Crim sub support of @marcussimon.com HB2783 to make prosecutions for placing a swastika with intent to intimidate easier.

The tragic incident at DCA has deeply affected families, first responders, and our community.

Yeah, how about not dissolving the air safety advisory commission at the FAA. As your team did last week.

This is why we have to pass a Constitutional Amendment in Virginia to repeal our anti same sex marriage provisions

Ruby’s on the bandwagon

This is great news

Spoke today on the floor about the success of Virginia’s own Washington Commanders who train in Ashburn!

It’s just barely 8 am and I’ve already passed a bill out of subcommittee to allow Falls Church City more flexibility in their Affordable Dwelling Unit program!

Hail!

Tony Dungee is very wrong

Weekly wrap up from the first week of session: That’s it. That’s the post.

The only thing that keeps playing in my head on this second day of session while we’re in recess is @marcussimon.com saying “Mr. Speaker, we have plenty of time!” 🤣🤣🤣

The 2025 session officially opened today. I look forward to fighting the good fight with my seat mates Majority Leader @C_Herring, Chairman @DavidBulova, and Chairman @marcussimon.com!!

🎉 Big wins for reproductive freedom! Congrats to Senator-elect Kannan Srinivasan and Delegate-elect JJ Singh on their victories! These wins bring us closer to securing the Reproductive Freedom Amendment on the 2026 ballot. 💕 I'm so proud of the @ppava.bsky.social team for their work!

Congrats to @Kannanforva and @SinghforVA on the wins, and many thanks to @jacktrammell for running. Thanks to all of the folks that make this possible - including the legislators who expanded early voting and implemented a permanent absentee list.

We have plenty of time. This is fine. Everything is fine.
